Why did protesters plead guilty?
A variety of reasons. Some actually were guilty of crimes - oh, not sedition or insurrection, certainly not "treason." But some broke windows and trespassed. Fighting with Capitol Police was self-defense, I can't fault the protestors for that. Pelosi's Palace Guard behaved like savage animals, attacking peaceful protestors. But some of the rioters broke laws they should be punished for.
Others pled guilty because they were coerced by the Gestapo and corrupt federal prosecutors.
We know for instance that Garland's goons threatened Lucas Denney that they would delay his trial for 10 years if he didn't plead guilty - a federal court censured US Attorneys for these acts.
