US women are paying billions more for healthcare than men every year

Maybe men should do the research on why women live longer but since none of you will, I'll help. You can beat the odds but have to put in the work.

Why do males have a shorter life expectancy?

...The answer involves genetics, hormones, lifestyle choices, risk-taking behavior, and access to healthcare.

Key contributing factors include biological factors, behavioral factors, social factors, the role of cardiovascular disease and socioeconomic factors.

...Yes, some diseases are more prevalent or severe in men. Examples include prostate cancer, cardiovascular disease (at younger ages), and certain types of lung cancer. These conditions contribute significantly to the longevity gap.

...Men can improve their health by adopting healthy lifestyle habits, such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, managing stress, and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption. Regular check-ups and screenings are also crucial.

...Mental health is critically important. Men are less likely to seek help for mental health issues like depression and anxiety, which can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms and increased risk of suicide. Addressing mental health needs is essential for improving overall well-being and longevity.

Karen, most men die before women because they want to.

You're being sarcastic. Who do you think takes care of the men in households? Ask your wife if the answer evades you.
No, I am not being sarcastic. In my household I generate roughly 80% of the income. That's my half, or more, of the arrangement. I bring home the funds. The wife takes care of the household. That's her job.

What evades you is that outside income other than by government welfare is necessary for a stable household.

I replied to this part of your comment: "... instead of becoming lazy manholes and expecting somebody else to take care of them the way women generally do."

Somewhere along the line you and your wife reached an agreement of how your household should work. Are there children? Is/was she a stay at home mom? Do you want her to work and if so, are you willing to do 50% of the household/childcare work to keep things running smoothly? Does she want to work and have you do a more equal share of the household jobs?

None of this boils down to a soundbite like "expecting somebody else to take care of them the way women generally do." That's just a snark opinion, not reality. And let me remind you of how many conservative men complain about women working because they think it destroyed the family.

I was accurate in that as a generalization. Right now, about a third of all households in the US are single parent. These are overwhelmingly headed by a female. Single parent female households are generally under employed, on welfare of some sort, and live in or near the poverty line.

I worked full-time at career jobs. She worked part-time. As for household work, I do all maintenance on the home such as electrical, plumbing, painting, pool care, landscaping, etc. I am the cook (much better at it than she is). So, I do my fair share or more of the work around the house.

My opening statement above shows I am correct, however. Where a household is headed by a female, she expects somebody else to provide for her, be it through a divorce settlement, or the government. She works only as much as she has to rather than as much as she needs to.

You seem bitter. Maybe you need to renegotiate your household contract. Btw, the internet says your estimate of single-parent households is high. The numbers I'm getting are 25% or lower. What's wrong with these men who would sire children all over the place and not stick with a woman?

No, I'm a realist. Maybe women should hold up their end of the bargain more often rather than expecting things to simply go their way because that's what they want.

Karen,

What is the percentage of single-family households globally?

Why is the US nearly three times higher than the number you are going to come up with?

Global Single-Parent Household Statistics

Overview of Single-Parent Households

Globally, approximately 7% of children live in single-parent households. This figure represents the average across various countries and regions.

Comparison with the United States

In contrast, the United States has a significantly higher percentage of children living in single-parent households:

I would argue that is the result of being raised without a father or significant male presence in the family. No one of consequence to teach them as boys responsibility in this matter.
