WAKE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake County students could soon get the day off for a Muslim holiday, which would be considered a teacher workday.

A petition asking the Wake County Public School System to make the Muslim holiday of Eid Al-Fitr a district holiday has already garnered nearly 4,000 signatures in just 10 days.

Mariya Shaikh, whose three children go to Wake County Schools, created the petition, and said a calendar committee for the district added Eid Al-Fitr to the 2020-2021 draft calendar as a teacher work day.

Shaikh said the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur and two Hindu holidays were also recommended for the calendar.

What happened to your by-line about 'Religion being a Mental Disease'?

Decided to remove your 'Humanist' identity and let the REAL guno emerge?

"Separation of Church and State". A Founding Principle.
Who the fuck wants MORE 'Religious Holidays'?

Maybe we should just have Religious Schools? Anybody think THAT is a good idea? I think Pakistan has Religious Schools. I doubt China has Religious Schools.

I'll bet the unions wouldn't object to more holidays.

Oh, and we do have "Religious Schools" schools all across this country. Isn't Notre Dame (just an example) considered a Roman Catholic institution?

Technically it’s not. It’s a teacher workshop day being held on a Muslim holiday but it’s not officially observing a religious holiday.

It’s a private school. They can observe whatever holidays they want.

Wow! I did not know you supported Saudi Arabia setting up Madrassa (Religious Schools) Schools all across the Land. That sounds like a real good idea ... if I was ISIS or Al Qaeda.

I thought we were talking about 'religious holidays' in general?
Public Schools and 'Religious Holidays' don't mix well in my opinion.

How in the hell did you come up with me supporting "Saudi Arabia setting up Madrassa (Religious Schools) Schools all across the Land" from my post? Holy shit...

I thought you were supporting 'Religious Holidays', 'religion' in schools? I hope you understand what that means. It's not just a 'Go' light for Christians, it's a 'Go' light for the Saudis who are in the Business of spreading their Religion around the Globe. Establishing 'Muslim' Schools in America and stocking them with Wahhabi 'Scholars' would be the icing on the cake. Zillions of devout Muslims would come here to 'study'.

Thanks, RB60, another brilliant idea. (God, do me a favor ... STOP listening to 'guno')

great idea, more "don't look over there, look over here, wink wink

and we wonder why the moral depravity attacking the honesty and values in our adults is rubbing off on our children
