Trump’s lol? Maybe Trump should craft our national testing strategy after Obama’s Swine flu testing strategy:
In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for H1N1 flu, and stopped counting individual cases. The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?

Apparently, stopping is a testing strategy of sorts. At least it was under Obama. There’s certainly an argument to be made that we are over-testing.
Recall that the Swine Flu inordinately affected young people and not nursing home residents and/or people who are in their 80’s that have a one in seven chance of dying from something in a given year.
Another strategy I would suggest is they work on their categorization of both positive tests and deaths. Deaths in particular. Did died *with* Swine flu exist as a category under Obama? I don’t recall it. I get the idea the death count would have been much higher. Perhaps much, much, higher had they done that.
So let’s drop the ‘died with’ category altogether and limit it to individuals who died *strictly from* COVID. This would reduce some of the panic and provide a more—how shall we say it—more scientific basis, for public policy.
