It’s called a form of socialism. Redistribution of wealth.
Money is not wealth, Pretender.
Money is just a representation of what you can buy or sell (a medium of exchange) and a unit of account (you can set a price).
Wealth is food, housing, the computer you are using right now, the water you drink, etc.
The stuff people buy to use.
You can barter for it, or you can use money as an intermediary to barter for it.
People use money so they can convert what they have (pigs, labor, house, etc) for something else, even if the seller doesn't necessarily need what you have directly. They want what someone else has, and like you, use money as an intermediary to buy it instead of going through the threee-way direct barter.
But it's still barter. Just a more convenient form of it.
The dollar is just a piece of paper at best (most of it is just bits in a computer). If people stop accepting that currency, it becomes worthless.
Don't think it's already happening?
In 1900, a dollar was worth 1/20th of oz of gold.
Today is it only worth 1/209th of an oz of the same gold.
It is the same kind of thing with silver, wheat, gasoline, or any other commodity.
The ONLY thing that makes it tolerable at all is more efficient production of that commodity (why food is basically still pretty damn cheap).
Inflation hits everyone. you, businesses, government...everyone.
And in the end the only way the government can try to keep the party going is to print MORE money without an increase in wealth, causing MORE inflation...a self defeating spiral.
This is how currencies fail, Pretender.
Already people are looking around for another currency...Bitcoin, gold, silver, SDR, etc. In the end I think a return to gold and silver will occur, but the US government is in extremely poor position to attempt it themselves.
