They can deny all they want. A journalist of Woodward's caliber doesn't rely upon just one source when he reports some event. If two or three ppl (or more) relate the same event in the same way, does that make it more likely that *they* are more truthful than the one denying it, particularly if the one is the only one saying it's not true?
