Hands Up Don't Shoot

How did we get to point that the police have become the country's biggest problem?

Two fold:
1 - People wanting to scream about what the Police are doing, in order to deflect from their own behavior
and
2 - A minimal amount of Cops who have violated their Power of Authority.

This has lead liberals to come to the conclusion that all Cops are bad and then the liberals stoked the fires, by crying about every incident; without knowing what they're crying about.

Can you imagine if every football team that had a member commit a crime was boycotted; because it means the entire team is dirty.
Or Baseball
Or Hockey
Or Firemen
Or Blacks
Or Hispanics
Or Whites (oh wait that's already happening)
Or Doctors
Or Nurses
Or ambulance drivers
Or Congressmen

Long story short, partner and I respond to a dispute inside a store in a violent neighborhood. Guy standing outside says the guy inside has a gun. We enter with guns drawn and one of the guys is ignoring us and sort of wandering around. Orders to "stop" being made at gunpoint are totally being disregarded.

My partner was getting edgy but I had a better angle on the guy and could see his eyes. So I yell at partner "No!"

Turns out the guy was having some kind of seizure and had been arguing with store owner about using the bathroom.

I run outside to find the idiot who told us the guy had a gun, but of course he was gonzo alonzo.

Had we shot the guy we would have been wrong, and no witness to verify why we thought he had a gun. Totally screwed.

Things aren't always as they seem or as we're told.

That said, I don't understand this shooting either. But let's hear more about it before rushing to judgment.

That is a perfect example of why cops should be given the benefit of the doubt in scary situations like your story describes. Another is the Tamir Rice shooting, where cops gunned down a perceived threat within two seconds of arriving at a Baltimore playground. Of course, it turned out the gunman was a thirteen year old kid who was wielding a toy gun that he had picked up only minutes before. The fault certainly didn't lie with the 911 caller, who stated that the gun was 'probably a toy', and the person was 'probably a juvenile'. Those bits of information were somehow not communicated to the responding officers. However, it certainly was someone's fault for causing those police officers to be put in a situation where they felt their lives were in danger, in spite of the fact that the threat was not real, nor should have the responders been led to falsely believe it. Unfortunately, Baltimore did not hold anyone responsible for that screw-up, did nothing to even ascertain what the problem was, and certainly did nothing to try to fix it.

This situation will take some time to sort out. Let's hope, though, that this time something is eventually done to identify the problem, hold anyone guilty accountable, and most importantly, change what is necessary to protect both the police and innocent citizens that get caught up in untoward circumstances. Charles Kinsey deserves not only some answers, but some effort to fix whatever went wrong.

This is terrible; because any time the Police are called about someone with a gun, they should always believe someone when they say there is no gun.
I mean, it's not like anyone ever lies.

Wow, A lie. It hadn't even occurred to me that someone could lie. How did you get so fucking insightful? Thank you. Then, by all means, I agree that the police should shoot a man lying on the ground with his hands up, just in case he had an invisible gun floating above him. He could be lying. And, after all, the autistic guy obviously had an RPG in the shape of a toy truck. Too bad it took the police a few minutes to figure out that these gang bangers were just pretending to be a therapist and patient. They could have just shot them stinking liars the minute they pulled up, instead of wasting the taxpayers money by listening to them thar lies.

What is there to get "sucked in" about? The circumstances of this incident are pretty cut and dry.

So was Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin. You race hustlers haven't had a good track record trying to gin up racial tensions. It might be a good idea for you guys to just sit back and wait for all of the information to come out.

Or you can run headlong into a wall again

It was on the news this morning.

Thanks. Wouldn't surprise me. I actually am wondering if all the cop shootings has this guy under extreme pressure and he just lost it. No excuse, just trying to figure out why he would shoot someone on the ground with their hands in the air.

Nah, you are good at looking that stuff up, I can't post a link for something that was stated on TV.

A second brief video shows officers who are carrying rifles physically patting down Kinsey and the autistic man while they are lying on the ground.

In an interview with WSVN-Channel 7, Kinsey said that after he was shot, officers approached and flipped him over and handcuffed him.

“Sir, there’s no need for firearms,” Kinsey told the news station he said to police before he was shot. “It was so surprising. It was like a mosquito bite.”

Kinsey said when he asked the officer why he fired his weapon, the cop responded, “I don’t know.”

By Wednesday, North Miami police hadn’t offered much of an explanation. Assistant Police Chief Neal Cuevas said the investigation has been turned over to the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.
