Of course you cannot, but Obama was kind of busy the first year or so trying to work out of the Republican/Bush depression. He had a turncoat Repub senator who actually voted Repub, but ran as a Dem. Kennedy and Byrd were dying, so their votes could not be counted on. Obama did not have a real senatorial advantage. And no, they were not focused on immigration when you are trying to save the economy.

The Flores settlement agreement is problematic in many ways.
It encourages UACs to enter the United States illegally, and encourages the parents of UACs to hire smugglers to bring them to the United States.
Further, it encourages people to bring their own children (or children whom they claim to be their own) when they make the perilous journey to the United States, thinking that it will make it more likely that they (the parents or purported parents) are more likely to be released if they travel with children.

Well, I hope the left will be satisfied when these families can remain together which will cause the detention time to be lengthened to more weeks or months in detention camps. But, they'll probably whine and moan about this, too. Oh well......this is what they wanted...they'll be miserable either way. If it were me, I would have opted for the brief 20 day separation.
