Because natural opiate latex has such a long half-life it's actually easy to underestimate how much you're doing and take too much. Poppy seed tea has claimed quite a few lives. Poppy bulbs as well, although that trade has largely been cracked down on. I'm honestly embarrassed that I ever tried it, I was expecting something much weaker, just some gentle relaxation. And then I wound up staying up all night and didn't poop for nearly a week.

smoking has a much quicker onset, so you get a chance to slow it down/stop.
( although I haven't seen opium since the Iranian Revolution '79)

I've lived in Connecticut, Portland OR, and Columbus OH.
Lots of assholes in Connecticut and Portland. Lots of deatbeat customers in Portland. I left and took my business after 6K of bad debt in one year. Never had more than a 1K or so lost to deadbeats my entire life before operating in Portland. Connecticut people might be assholes, but they at least pay you for your work. Columbus is like every customer is the nicest customer you've ever had. Except for one lady from India was able to get me to walk away from her project after I could not please her, every job in Columbus has gone perfectly

*She wanted floors that look like painted black so I had to mix stain and poly to blend away all the grain of the wood. Then she still wasn't happy. It was nuts. Thank goodness the contractor understood why I was telling him he should tell her he fired me. LOL I still do all his work. I walked away from all the labor fees I was owed. about 4K. The contractor gives me about 40K in work a year so I lived through the ordeal

Why? They are so mockable. Religion, politics, no beaches, fat people, poor diets, cobb salad, no exercise, watxch TV all day.

They basically pray a tornado will show up so they will have something more interesting to do than feeding dogfood to their pet lama or milk tasting contests.
