Like you give a shit. This Forum is dead.

true genius transforms moral character. you sewer rat "ends justify the means" people are morally retarded, betokening your true idiocy.

"Phony info" in politics is a given. Both sides (all sides) will give out information that is skewed from the "truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."

That is not the kind of thing I think has to be improved in Internet discussions.

The bile...between individuals is what I see as the problem.

One side can hate former President Obama...and I, a person who thinks positively of him, can have a discussion with that side that does not slip into "then you are a scumbag, jerk-off, cunt." In the same way, one can hate that Trump is our president...and not get into that kind of thing.

The disparagement of groups and cultures, and races would be cut down considerably...and I think cutting down on that would improve the Internet...and the country.

What I'm meaning is that nothing stops a person from giving out a fake name and address. In addition to that, you have VPN addresses for your internet server. I cold type Jeffery Smith, from Portsmouth NH and no one would know the difference.

Top is obsessed with socks going back to the Amazon days. All she assumes are Mason or Owl

I remember those days but you'd think she could find a better obsession. She comes off sounding mentally ill way too much. Does she not care how she portrays herself, or can she just not help it?

yes you are

I spent a good party of my life believing I was just average

Because in my lifetime poor females were NOT ALLOWED to believe they had intelligence to offer

I was always very curvy and Fit

so I was treated like shit

then I took an IQ test and scored in the genius level

I have now accepted that I am indeed smart

this site has seen me end up correct over and over and over in retrospect

I make points people think are out there and then I see my thoughts BARE OUT in the entire world

Its still hard for me type and fully believe this next line but its true

I am A genius

science has said so

Well, I tested below genius but much above average. That test was administered many moons ago. You are lucky indeed.
I don't recall which one it was, but it was professionally administered. And my score was below 140, which made me officially
"not genius" LOL.

Okay.

But that same thing is true with the newspapers and magazines.

They check.

EVERY forum could be required to verify a person before giving permission for that person to post.

We probably won't see this soon...but my guess is that one day, we will see it.

They have that with Facebook. You use your screen name which is tied to all your info and is not a good idea. I had a post where someone mentioned being on a political chat and they made a threat by posting a picture of the person's house. She said they took it down by the time her complaint to Facebook was received. People in these types of discussions are often too screwed up in the head for words. You don't know what kind of danger they are.

I think that's the same person I'm thinking of. I've known her for over 20 yrs via the old parrot listservs; she's always been outspoken. But yeah, FB can be pretty nasty with that sort of thing.

There was a discussion on a local-to-us FB page about the h.s. changing the name of the team from "Red Men" to something else due to its being offensive to Native Americans. One of my friends, who is native, got a 24-hour FB timeout for asking one of the screeching racists how would he like it if they changed the name to "White Men." FB told him it was racist. WTF. The Reichwing snowflakes are out in force.

Our local paper back in STL required name, address, and contact phone #. They did contact you too, before printing your letter to the editor.

It's not something that will attract people. Meaning it's not a good decision for the sake of a forum. I unwittingly used my name the first place I went and got ravaged by trolls. I just posted and that's what my name was set to on the store account it was linked to. Eventually, I learned how to change things but that was after I had my reviews on-site attacked by trolls. You can't really verify people in location or identity on these sites. Especially because of VPN addresses. A VPN address is like a P.O. box for the internet, things ping to their address online rather than to yours. People use them for identity protection.

Our local papers did also.

And the name-calling, flame baiting nonsense simply did not exist.

Some people are not actually here to discuss the topics...but rather to call those with whom they are in disagreement...NAMES.

Okay...but I am an optimist.

I think technology can be developed to ensure that people posting are identified.

The real problem with the Internet is that the posters are anonymous.

But, I don't see things being changed any time soon.

Intelligence and sanity are often not the same thing, evince.

Very true but then again even social media spaces like Facebook are very often just as toxic and mind-melting. The Internet has become a breeding ground and tool for some very screwed up stuff. We might have been better off in many ways without it or at least not have it as far reaching and with so many platforms.

Better causing mischief online then in the streets if you think about it.
