You love to see this. In the David v. Goliath Los Angeles Mayor's race, Republican candidate and former reality TV star Spencer Pratt has raised more money than incumbent
Mayor Karen Bass, according to quarterly filing reports.
It's less about the monetary amount (although that matters) and more about campaign enthusiasm. Nobody in their right mind wants four more years of Karen Bass, so the fact that a low-name-recognition newbie candidate like Spencer Pratt is outmatching Bass in fundraising is proof that momentum is on his side.
Pratt is also outraising progressive leftist Councilwoman Nithya Raman.
In 2025, Pratt lost his home in the horrific Pacific Palisades Fire, which destroyed more than 10,000 properties and killed 12 people. Pratt started using his substantial social media platform to expose the truth about the gross incompetence and malfeasance of Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, and demand they be held accountable. When recall efforts against Bass stalled, Pratt decided to run for Los Angeles mayor.
And what of being able to rebuild his home? Over a year later, Pratt, along with millions of others who lost homes in the Palisades and Eaton Fires, is in a holding pattern thanks to Bass and Newsom. Despite Bass and Gov. Hair Gel's purported claims, neither is doing anything to cut the regulations, red tape, and costs required to rebuild, nor are they dealing with the insurers who still have not reimbursed many residents. Thanks to Pratt's strong megaphone and the fact that Angeleans are fed up with their terrible leadership, Pratt's grassroots campaign has been building momentum, moving the needle.
What is also moving the needle is Pratt's shoe leather, grassroots engagement, and kickass social media. Pratt posted this video in response to a hit piece by the
Los Angeles Times, questioning his eligibility to run for Los Angeles Mayor. Thanks to Bass' failures, after Pratt and his family lost their home, they were forced to move into a trailer on his parents' property in Santa Barbara.
Spencer Pratt outraises LA Mayor Karen Bass with strong grassroots support in the 2026 mayoral race.
