Oklahoma Bible mandate challenged in Court

Christian beliefs. Yeah, that's built on a PILE OF BODIES so deep it would cause a vulture to retch.
Interesting. You're stealing religious values to criticize religion itself. You clearly are making the case that murder is objectively wrong and inherently evil.

Why does atheism believe murder is objectively wrong and inherently evil, independent of social convention, self interest, and opinion?

Then why did you lie about some fictitious "bible mandate" when all it was was religious studies?
If your claim is that Christian fundamentalists are no longer looking to introduce mandatory Bible study in elementary schools, that's good news. I wonder if I can believe it?
It's possible, but unlikely in public schools. Promotion of socialism and communism are nearly universal in the socialist schools of this country.
I never saw active promotion of Marxism-Socialism in any high school or college I attended. The Russian history classes I took very intentionally described the totalitarian state of fear the Soviet leadership implemented, and the failure of Soviet economics to produce anything close to western standards.

There never was a "bible mandate."

The opening post begins with:

"Oklahoma families, teachers and faith leaders file lawsuit to block Superintendent Ryan Walters’ Bible-education mandate

OKLAHOMA CITY – More than 30 Oklahomans – including parents and children, public school teachers and faith leaders – today filed a lawsuit urging the Oklahoma Supreme Court to block state Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters’ mandate that all public schools incorporate the Bible into their curricula."

The word "mandate" is used twice. The people who wrote it called it a mandate. The people fighting to cancel it called it a mandate.

What separation of church and state??
The Virginia Baptists and other religious dissenters gained enough clout to convince State officials to rescind the charter making the Anglican Church Virginia's State-sanctioned church, and to emancipate religious dissenters like the Baptists from discrimination and second class status.

A religious studies education is important for many reasons, but in part because it's important for our Christian fundamentalist contemporaries to hear that separation of church and state was originally their own idea.

Oh, so for you it is about selfish reasons. So that YOU can get out alive.

I see church as a community. I see it as an instrument of mercy and service.

My issue was never with the church, per se. It was the deity I didn't believe in.

It sounds as though you had a similar upbringing to mine, only we were Lutheran rather than Methodist. Mom was a Sunday school teacher and Dad belonged on some men's committees, so they were immersed in it. I too walked away and found my own path as theirs -- despite years of teaching and indoctrination -- made no sense to me. Why would a loving creator create so many new souls only to cast most of them into eternal torment for not following one particular sect? Why would this creator need a gender ("he," of course) if he/she/it/they had the power to form all that there is? Why would he/she/it/they favor one religion over another? Or care if we believe in him/her/it/them?

That nonsense is just a Reichwing myth. I've never experienced the promotion of any political scheme in either h.s. or college, and my university experience is probably more recent than yours even, as in this very decade. No communism, no Marxism, no capitalism, no socialism -- none of that was promoted in any of my classes. However, Reichwingers would probably be incensed that most of my professors did promote tolerance and understanding of those who are not White, straight, male, born here, etc.

It would take a special kind of talent to sneak Marxism-Leninism into nursing classes, calculus classes, chemistry classes, business classes, biology classes, English literature classes, statistics classes, engineering classes, accounting courses, geography classes, art and music classes!

Yep. Unlike modern American Xtians, the colonial Christians immigrated here to escape real religious persecution in Europe. They knew first hand the dangers of a state religion and wished to prevent it occurring here. Even in grade school, we were taught these facts. I have no idea why some fundies seems to be unaware of history.

The only college history class I had to take for nursing ed. was American history in the 20th century. There was mention, of course, of communism's rise and the Cold War. But nope, it wasn't promoted in the least.

OH MY! The usual Bible Thumper "You can't believe in right and wrong unless you worship JEEEEEEEEEZUS"

Give me a break.

You clearly are making the case that murder is objectively wrong and inherently evil.

This has already been explained to you earlier. I'm sad that you are either SO DISHONEST as to act as if it hasn't OR you are too stupid and just didn't understand it when it was explained to you.

Do you need a refresher on how athiests can find murder to be "wrong"?

Why does atheism believe murder is objectively wrong and inherently evil, independent of social convention, self interest, and opinion?

-sigh-. SO DISHONEST. I explained it do you already.

Here it is in bold so you can read it.

Humans are SOCIAL ANIMALS meaning they derive SURVIVAL advantages from cooperation in social networks. That means any actions which destabilize or otherwise harm the general safety or perception of safety to the members of that group could be considered to be wrong as it would REMOVE THE SURVIVAL ADVANTAGES.

It's pretty simple. I mean, even YOU with YOUR limited intellect can actually understand it.

How long before you again deny that you have heard this very thing many times?

Same.

In the humanities and social sciences I took electives in American history, European history, Russian history, Chinese history, sociology, art history, music appreciation, economics and Marxism-Leninsim was never glorified or promoted.

The vast majority of my classes were science and math, and there simply weren't many opportunities to bring up Vladimir Lenin in class! 🤣

They knew first hand the dangers of a state religion and wished to prevent it occurring here.

They were also quite insular religious extremists as well. Those types don't tend to do so well in secular societies. They were religiously persecuted in England but they chose to leave the Netherlands because they feared they were getting contaminated by Dutch society.
