Antisemitism has moved from the right to the left in the US − and falls back on long‑standing stereotypes

How My Generation Became Antisemitic

I’m a high school student. The Jew-hatred I see spreading through young Americans is worse than you think.

As a high schooler, I can tell you the scale of antisemitism among my generation is far worse than any adult realizes. Among young men, a new, mainly right-wing brand of Jew-hatred has become omnipresent and is calcifying into an insurgent political movement. And despite how widespread it’s becoming, it’s newer and far less understood than the more pervasive antisemitism on the left.

Antisemites on the right: I did not forget about you. You were just easier to identify. There is no conceptual heavy lifting required to recognize antisemitism at a tiki torch parade chanting “Jews will not replace us.” The hard work has been naming the version that wears better clothing — the kind that wraps itself in liberation vocabulary and dares you, on pain of professional ostracism, to call it what it is.

Bottom line: once you conflate being jewish with the government of Israel, then any negative actions by that government is seen as being approved of and endorsed by anyone identifying as jewish. So yeah, antisemitism is going to increase. That it's more by "the left" than "the right" is myopic reporting ... and an acknowledgement that extreme right wing group mentality exists and is active ... something maga mooks are reluctant to fully acknowledge.
You are not talking about the government of Israel.
Democrats support Iran, HAMAS, and other violent factions against Israel. This is antisemitism toward the Jews.

You are correct, those events were covered by everyone, especially the Ivies, as fhe current Administration showed, depicting Ivies negatively is popular, but that doesn’t make it widespread. Living in the NE, I am encircled by umpteen colleges and Universities, and I don’t recall it being rampant at any of those campuses.

And again, demonstrations against Israel doesn’t automatically imply antisemitism
Yes it does, anchovies.

I've never stated simply criticizing Israel policy alone is antisemitic. No one is above reproach. Nor were these events happening on every single campus in America. But they were happening on a number of campuses and the harassment and antisemitic statements and actions were very real.

But I get it. This isn't even really about antisemitism per se. It's just another right/left battle over who is the worst offender and people are going to want to protect their own 'side'.
But that image, especially Columbia’s encampment, was what portrayed as such.

And that is not true, I’m not battling anything, I just didn’t think what is being portrayed as antisemitism was as grave as characterized

Right-wing antisemitism is a form of prejudice rooted in nationalist, far-right, and extremist ideologies that view Jewish people as a collective threat to traditional social dominance, national identity, or racial purity. This phenomenon relies heavily on conspiracy theories about hidden global influence, financial manipulation, and subversion of local cultures
You fake ass Jew. Antisemitism is on the rise in this country. From the left. And the party you die for tried to put a genuine Nazi into office as a Senator. Which you, the supposedly Jew, supported. Just kill yourself Guno. It cannot be any clearer you are a white, atheist, never served confused democrat. Every single one of your posts prove it. If you need some help figuring out how to end it, just PM me. You fucking fraud.

I wasn’t there so I can’t speak to anything personally. But based on what I read and the anecdotal stories I heard from Jewish friends, the harassment and antisemitism was very real and not pretty.

Jewish friends at Columbia?

Didn’t say it didn’t happen, it did, rather that the manner inwhich anti Israel demonstrations were portrayed contributed to a view by many that intimidating antisemitism was prevalent at colleges and universities

Democrats, Sybil. You can't blame republicans on Democrat actions.
No, Larry, that was a republican.

You are the most virulent Anti-Semite I've ever encountered. Now that i know more about the Black Hebrew Israelite cult you belong to, I actually understand what a pile of shit you really are. The way you put on "Jew Face" and do a minstrel show of the Protocols of the Elders and Zion, with every racist trope the Nazis ever dreamed up. Your intent to smear actual Jews by running around screaming "Goy" and claiming you make Matzo from the blood of Christian babies.

So go fuck off with your lies about "right wing," Nazi cunt.

There is a difference between blaming Jews in America for Israel’s actions in Gaza and just hating Jews because they are Jewish
Is there a problem with violent bigotry against Jews in America for Israel's actions in Gaza? I think there is.

And I don't think that Israel's actions in Gaza are unwarranted or extreme given the fact that the threat that they face is annihilation.

And who hates Jews more for 'just being Jewish' than Mamdani and his vile pig of a wife? Who hates Jews more than Omar? More than Jefferies? More than Tlaib? More than the average muslim-American? More than the KKK, which the Dems started themselves...?

Can you name a prominent, widely accepted conservative that hates Jews? Because I can't name one.

I don't doubt that there are a lot of people who vote conservative who hate Jews for their own reasons, but it's not a mainstream or even acceptable belief among conservatives that Jews are bad people, while extreme anti-Semitism is very popular in the Democrat party.

No, Larry, that was a republican.

Inversion fallacy. Mandani is not a Republican. He is a Democrat. Larry Montes was inspired by Mandani's hatred of Jews.
I am not Larry. I don't even live in New York.

Anti Zionism and antisemitism are two very different things. I have been hearing that the Zionists have very little use for Judaism, and they downright cant stand Christians.....they only pretend that they support Christians.

I recently heard someone say that Christian Zionists are some of the dumbest MotherFuckers around.
I'm not sure if you're quoting someone here to make a point, or if you believe all of that, but "I have been hearing" and "I recently heard someone say" are quite silly as far as standards go.

If you want to understand the Arab-Israeli war you need to understand:
  • what life was like under 600 years of Ottoman rule
  • what the G Mufti was doing with Hitler doing WWII
  • what really happened during partition in Israel AND Pakistan, how many people were killed in Pakistan in 1947, just for context
  • how differently muslims reacted to those things in the previous point
  • what Israel's goals are, and what the openly stated goals of Hamas, the PLO/Fatah, and the IRGC are
  • you need to have a meaningful understanding of the rules of war
  • how many peace deals the Israelis have offered and what they gave, or at least offered
  • what has happened every single time the Palestinians have had time to accumulate weapons
  • exactly what the Palestinians have done with the many, many billions of dollars in aid they have received, vs the astounding potential of the Gazan region, geographically
  • how different the level of joy is when each side kills in that war
  • and you need to be able to understand how palestinian propaganda works, and how it relies on their own dead children
The more you know about the Arab-Israeli war, the more you side with Israel, unless you're bigoted against Jews.
