2001 A Space Odyssey is not for the slow-witted.

I liked 2001 as well. It was a fun flick. I think the end kinda ruined much of its impact for me simply because it was so jarringly surreal after almost 2 hours of technical immersion.
I'm sure there's some amazing exegesis to explain the end sequence, but then I don't read James Joyce for fun either.

Agreed. He's got such a needy ego. To be quite honest this kind of behavior is much more like a junior high kid than a real adult. Someone who is still trying to figure out who they are and desperate to make others think of them as better than they are.
