For Catholics, Christa Pike's guilt does not erase her dignity

What do you picture justice and punishment to be like in the future?

I used to support the death penalty for some cases. I don't anymore. It is not administered swiftly, consistently, or fairly. Too many Death Row convicts have been found not guilty of the crimes that put them there. Sentencing to death falls more heavily on the poor, the non-white, those with low IQs and other mental issues. But if we don't keep them locked up away from the public and other prisoners, then what do we do with them?
I have a long, arduous response to the issues you raised here...which obviously trouble me, too...but I am not going to get into that now. The most commonly used exchange for the death penalty is Life In Prison Without the Chance of Parole. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO ENDURE THAT in my opinion. There are some people who simply cannot be allowed to run about in the general population. They include people of violence even if they have not killed; child molesters; some serial thieves.

I stand by the opinion I gave earlier.

In his 2020 encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, Francis made the point again, quoting Pope John Paul II with the words "not even a murderer loses his personal dignity," then going on to affirm that the inalienable dignity of every human being extends even to "the worst of criminals."

The church's now categorical opposition to the death penalty represents a significant and quite recent development in Catholic teaching. For many centuries, the church accepted capital punishment, and ecclesiastical institutions participated in systems that condemned heretics and others to their deaths, most notoriously during the inquisitions.

In the Catholic tradition, Colleen Slemmer's dignity does not require Christa Pike to lose her own, just as the women and child murdered by Henri Pranzini were not further harmed because St. Thérèse prayed for their killer.

Thats right a persons dignity is not reduced based on their behavior. Your opinion them will certainly be reduced but that has no effect on their dignity. This is a difficult message for people to hear.

You pop dirty for meth and fentanyl every time.

Back in your home country they would put a bullet in your brain and make your family pay the cost of the round. But here we just go through the perpetual cycle of incarceration to dry you out.

Guano is a Muslim - always has been. He is an Islamo-Nazi who advocates genocide of the Jews in Israel. A Muslim Supremacist who puts on "Jew Face" to act out every bigoted trope about Jews to smear, slander, and defame real Jews. A walking rendition of the Protocols of Zion.
I never believed he was Jewish.

Epstein case was an open investigation under Biden

The Epstein case was an open criminal investigation during the Biden administration, Miami Herald investigative reporter Julie K. Brown explained on social media. Brown’s extensive reporting since 2017 has shone a light on the crimes of Epstein and his longtime accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. Her book about Epstein, titled “Perversions of Justice,” is a New York Times bestseller.

Schumer calls for Senate to sue administration over Epstein files
“They had an open grand jury. … And even after Maxwell’s conviction, the case was on appeal — anyone in law enforcement knows you don’t open your case file when it’s still under appeal,” Brown added.

Victims were still going to the FBI with information during Biden’s term, but that changed when President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice reviewed the files and closed the case in July, Brown said.

How does a thread about “For Catholics, Christa Pike's guilt does not erase her dignity” morph into posts about President Trump and Epstein?
