Jade's Recipe Exchange.

I love crock pot stuff. I've done half a pork shoulder, and pork loins, in it with dark beer, a garlic and mustard rub, sliced apples, and onions. Wonderful autumn meal.
Sounds good; the beer is a nice touch. Speaking of pork, I found another recipe I want to try. Your hubby might go for it too, unless he doesn't like sour cream for some weird reason. They say spicy but sweet paprika really isn't. Plus, the sour cream would drown out what little heat it did have.

Making biscuits and gravy for supper tonight , we use morningstar farms for the sausage to put in the sawmill gravy over homemade buttermilk biscuits

Sawmill gravy?
Sawmill gravy is a thick, rustic Southern white gravy made from , meat and flour, and milk, traditionally served over warm biscuits.

We use a non meat substitute because we do not mix milk and meat

In kashrut, mixing meat and dairy is strictly prohibited. You cannot cook, serve, or eat meat and milk products together. This rule comes from biblical verses that forbid cooking a kid in its mother's milk.

Now I know. I've seen it in packets at the store. They call it sausage gravy or white gravy. Just have never seen it called sawmill gravy.

I'd rather do it without or use mushrooms or some kind of vegetable than use processed fake meat. What's it made of? What does it taste like?

Definitely need to make this with the neighbors sometime. Mom can't handle even a little heat, so I wouldn't make this at home.
