Majority Leader John Thune is holding a vote in the Senate to require voter ID nationwide in elections by law, a provision of the SAVE America Act

It seems you have never once voted if you think people don't have to identify themselves when voting. You are under penalty of law when you identify yourself to vote. If people were illegally claiming to be other people there would be evidence of that. People would show up to vote and be told they had already voted. It doesn't happen because the penalty is far greater than any benefit. You are basing your argument on non existent facts and speculation.

But let's take this further. People could be illegally carrying guns by claiming to be other people. The only way to prevent that is to require everyone who wants to carry a gun present an ID every time they want to carry that gun. It is your argument applied equally to another right.
Have you ever voted in Massachusetts dipshit? Simple yes or no will do. Just so you know I have

Inversion fallacy.

The Constitution does not provide any rights.

Voting is not a right.

You are ignoring the 2nd and 4th amendments again.

You are ignoring Article I, the 14th amendment, and all State constitutions again.

You are ignoring the 2nd amendment again.

You are ignoring the 2nd amendment again.
He/she/it is twisting itself into a pretzel to make those asinine arguments

No one has to travel over an hour to vote.
Quite true. Polling places are usually within walking distance or at most a short 10 minute drive away.
Being a drama queen isnt a rational argument.
Again quite true. It is known as an extreme argument fallacy.
No one is charged money to vote.
Also quite true. No one is charged money to register either.
More drama queenery. But even the nuts on your side of the argument say people have to prove who they are in order to register to vote but now you're whining its an undue burden. You people are messed up in the head
That they are. There is only one reason Democrats don't want voter ID.

Thanks for showing us you are completely ignorant of voting in remote areas.

But you are saying they have to.

Yes, you can use an ID to register. You are NOT required to use an ID to register. Voter registration is checked and double checked. Why do you think they catch so many GOP groups submitting fake voter registrations?

Democrat rather have to.

Since a Democrat cannot openly get people to accept the theft of socialism they support, or the other perversions and criminal activity they support, they have to build these pretzels of lies and try to attach it to patriotism or the Constitution of the United States.

They deny BOTH when they do this.

How is it 'checked and double checked', Poorboy? What is the reference?
Illegal aliens are not GOP groups.

And you waltzed in, didn't have to tell a single poll worker your name and they handed you a ballot?
It seems you don't know that telling someone your name is identifying yourself.

What 'remote area', Poorboy? You're stuck in the city.
I live in the country (rural). Such can usually drive no more than 10 minutes to a polling place (if that!).

But you are saying they have to.
People already do.

Having a background check is necessary to determine if you can buy a gun that you can later bear. Showing ID to do both is absurd. Why do you think one right guaranteed in the Constitution requires ID to exercise but the other one doesn't.

By the way, you are ignoring the fact that states set rules for elections.

This is just a No True Scotsman. When bearing arms, you may be asked to show ID in some instances. It generally is not required simply because you can bear arms on any day at a very wide variety of locations. At specific locations, you may be asked for ID however, like say a government building, shooting range, or location where you are actually using the firearm rather than simply transporting it. Identification when bearing arms is normally only required when use, or potential use, is imminent. That is, when you are actually going to use the weapon--not always, but in many cases.

Voter ID is really no different. You are asked for identification at a specific locality for a specific reason. You don't vote anywhere at any time you want, you do it at specific times and places.

Your complex question fallacy that follows is irrelevant as are all complex questions.

States set rules for state and local elections but still have to follow certain federal rules for both federal elections as well as their local ones. For example, they cannot exclude women from voting in local or state elections. So, no, states don't set their rules as a blanket statement.

A tiny portion of the population

No Im not. Im saying you have to prove who you are to vote not pay to vote. I would help if you actually read what I wrote and responded to that instead of what you htink I said

For the 1 millionth time registering is NOT the problem

You are so freaking stupid its painful to read your posts.

No I didnt waltz in. I did in fact have to give a poll worker a name. Then they gave me a ballot but you are too stupid to see whats missing.

NNo it doesnt because it doesnt address the the problem which is people dont have to prove who they are when they actually vote. Have you ever voted in Massachusetts?
And once again;

Our elections already include multiple layers of security — from registration verification and signature matching to ballot tracking and post-election audits. Studies of U.S. elections have consistently found that voter fraud is extremely rare, estimated at 0.0025%. And the small number of cases that do occur are often paperwork issues and almost never involve someone impersonating another voter at the polls, meaning strict voter ID laws would do little to prevent them”

I'll try again. If I am not asked to verify who I am at the time I vote how would you know if i was impersonating someone or not? No wonder voter fraud is so "rare".

Because it doesn’t make a difference, did you think hundreds of impersonators walk into an election polling location and vote illegally? Even in a local school board election it would have to be a large number of people to sway even that election, and that is with guessing the illegal voters are all voting for the same party.

Much to do about nothing and certainly not worth the risk of depriving a person of their right to vote

If I claim to be John Doe when I go to vote and no one asks me to provide evidence that I am John Doe, how would they know if Im John Doe or not?
John Doe would have to sign his name right underneath his signature from the last time he voted, and given it would take disproportionate number of John Does to swing an election, why risk disenfranchising a voter
