Nike, Nike, Nike!

So making money is your problem?

We should associate ourselves with broke and powerless companies.

What exactly are you doing about this issue?

Yes, as a matter of fact, it is. Because almost every faucet of the human experience has been monetized and exploited by the super wealthy for profit. And now genuine, grassroots movements are being taken into the fold as well. We are looking at the age of Protest Inc. This, frankly, disgusts me. How do you not see the problem here? How do you not see how you are being exploited for others' personal gain?

I joined a local community campaign a while back, not long after the Eric Garner murder, that was aimed at putting body cameras on police officers. We believe this will help to increase accountability. The group I'm involved in has also been a longtime advocate of proper de-escalation training like they get in Europe. Meditation sessions, also, to help them answer calls in a calm and rational mind (they do this in Canada with great success). As well as holding officers personally accountable for their own misconduct charges. No more taxpayer bailouts, they pay out of pocket. That alone will go a long way. Our officers experience zero accountability and zero repercussions for what they do when that badge is on. This needs to change. Nobody should be above the law, and hell the people enforcing the law should be held to even stricter standards than the general public. I don't think higher market shares for Nike will do anything in the way of changing systematic issues of corruption and injustice.

If Donald Trump don't STFU and quit tweeting bullshit, the Dixie Chicks records will go Platinum, and the Republitards will go back to eating French Fries again!

I am loving watching blackasscancer get smacked around and exposed in this thread.

He tries to pass himself off as some thoughtful, high minded leftist. But, he is nothing more than an angry, race hustling, internet thug. Even when people agree with him, if they don't agree with EVERY single thing he gets pissy and immediately plays BIG INDIAN/LITTLE INDIAN

He is such a moron he can't see that Cawacko agrees with him on numerous issues, but in his petty little brain because Wacko calls himself a Republican, he is blackasscancer's enemy.

He is nothing but a worthless POS and I am truly glad he has cancer and I hope that it takes him quickly and rids this world of the cancer that is his existence.

But, I am enjoying watching him get his ASS handed to him and his abject hypocrisy exposed.

Do you for one second think you could be wrong about the midterm elections or do you think it is a done deal?

You are free to pursue whatever course you choose. So am I, so is Nike, and so is Kaepernick .. who has moved the ball further on this than anything you and your group is doing.

Body cams did not come from your group .. is came from lots of people who demanded them.

If these issues are to be solved, they will be solved by all hands on deck .. not by the few who have axes to grind about those who genuinely want to help AND who have a long track record of it.

I respect your opinion and appreciate your very civil answer....but.....
People aren't talking about his cause.... They're just fussing with each other. They're shrieking about boycotts and how much money is being made and screaming we win you lose...endlessly.... ("BAM !!!We are at war .. and they are losing.")

So the "conversation" isn't what you‘ and others are making it out to be....I see no change any time soon when it comes to "oppression or social injustice or police brutality"...If NIKE brings out Kaep shoes, they'll sell (if they do) because they're New NiKES. Not because of any cause..
Poor choice of words for that slogan...especially for young people... ‘

I'd disagree with that overall assessment. Without doubt, there is a lot of fussing and screaming and nonsensical talk. But on the cable panels, on capitol hill and just in general conversation, there is definitely more discussion and a heightened awareness of things like police brutality, wrongful arrest, profiling & other aspects of unequal treatment, as well as some of the racism that is unfortunately still inherent in our justice system.

Ultimately, when we can reach a day where there is a broad consensus that things have significantly improved, I think it's likely that Kap will get strong credit - not for being solely responsible or anything, but just like civil rights and other fights, for being a key catalyst at a pivotal time.

He knows that Cuba was among the poorest nations on the planet before Castro and had one of the worst healthcare system in the world .. until Castro .. and had one of the worst infant mortality rates in the world .. until Castro.

I know .. you didn't know that.

And Hitler built good roads. Why doesn’t he immigrate there lol?

Isn’t he always going on about how people of color are oppressed here?

Doesn’t a lot of police brutality occur in democrat precincts?

Movements require resources .. they require messaging.

Most here negatively talking about this issue know little to nothing about either.

You still have yet to quantify what exactly has been done for the issue by Nike gaining more market shares.....

Body cams did not come from your group .. is came from lots of people who demanded them.

Through the direct action of many community groups like mine.

If these issues are to be solved, they will be solved by all hands on deck .. not by the few who have axes to grind about those who genuinely want to help AND who have a long track record of it.

I don't have an axe to grind with people who genuinely want to help, I don't even really have an axe to grind with you. I have an axe to grind with Nike. Understand that.

All hands on deck is fine. It's what those hands are doing, though, that matter. If those hands are just buying shoes, nothing will get done. We need to be willing to get our hands dirty. Get involved in direct action, real activism. Even at just the community level, if everyone is doing it, that will go alot further in fixing these systematic problems. Community activism is true grassroots activism. Did you know the Black Panthers were socialist? Using a multi-billion dollar corporation as a vehicle is making true revolutionaries like them and others twist violently in their graves.

This is a side topic - but it's really only when black guys make a lot of money that the idea of "making a lot of money" seems to be an issue.

Not race baiting; just an accurate observation.

Why don't you move there.

Your politics are MUCH closer to Hitler than his.

Bottom line .. no one needs your approval .. and if you don't like it .. MOVE.

The VAST majority of African-American wholeheartedly agree with Kaepernick and Nike.

This is not about just buying shoes, it's about messaging.

With all due respect .. where is your national message?

You don't get to choose.

Bottom line: nobody can tell you shit, because you know everything. Fine, fuck off then. Enjoy wasting your money. We'll see what's done for police brutality in 10 years when everybody has a massive shoe collection in their closet and cops are still shooting people without consequence. :fu:

Now the real you comes out. :0)

Who do you think you are .. the teacher. :0)
