Northern Europe Deforestation Up 49% Due To Effort To Meet CO2 Targets

sure BD.
I've been preaching realpolitik now for how long??
when have I ever said Russia is even an existential threat much less tremble in fear over Russia??

You've talked yourself round in circles to something that is clearly untrue my friend

Sounds like you think Russia is a threat to the U.S., especially because they have trained with the Chinese military. I don't know how else to interpret that post, Bro.

What's wrong with a wood-burning stove or a fireplace? That wood pellets thing is seriously retarded.

Wood pellets are "Greener." They have had all the VOC's pulled out of the wood by drying (that's why the German plant in Texas keeps getting EPA air quality violations), and the size of the pellets means there is less residual ash afterwards. Sure, all the "good" things about wood pellets are made possible by increased pollution in their production but the Left never lets reality get in the way of a crackpot idea.

Russia by itself has no designs on the west. China has designs on world hegemony
^that's the simple set up

Triangulating against China, by getting Russia at least out of their clutches makes China less of a threat,

Russia by itself is not a threat except along it's borders, or in a clash with NATO

so dealing with Russia to lower nuclear tensions, or let them in the G8 also reduces the threat
from a combined Russia/China alliance

Not to mention the pollution from the ships that transport them from North America to Europe.

nevermind the OP. ( and the de-forestation is happening) T.A Gardner makes a devastating case against wood..
Just think about it. why would anyone use wood pellets when NAT GAS is available??

Ambiance & ease of use...

I know many ppl that do it, several live in the woods or near by & there is a lot of wood here that needs to be taken out of the system..

Currently in the near by woods-> in just one direction-

Wood Pellets: Green Energy or New Source of CO2 Emissions?

Burning wood pellets to produce electricity is on the rise in Europe, where the pellets are classified as a form of renewable energy. But in the U.S., where pellet facilities are rapidly being built, concerns are growing about logging and the carbon released by the combustion of wood biomass.

I totally do not understand that side of the argument.........

The trees are going to grow~thus they will burn one way or the other........

I have seen hillsides w/ 10-15 spot fires, burning simultaneously, from dry lightening w/in a half-mile square in the Sierra...... That is the natural order-you can delay it, you can't prevent it, short of taking out fuel........

Simple enough, the ships that transport the pellets from say Canada to Sweden or North Carolina to England produce huge amounts of particulates from the burning of bunker fuel. It's often solid when cold and has to be heated to even make it flow.

If it were just sawmill sawdust or off cuts it wouldn't be so bad, but there isn't enough which is why they turned to hardwood forests.
Then there is the issue of volatile organic compounds (VOC) which add to the pollution. Gas is far more convenient as California has finally realized, even die hard eco-loonys can be made to see sense!

They have been having their own fire issues as well....

Wild fires are, generally, natural and not part of the equation, Bill. It is a separate land management issue which Cali has ignored or exacerbated.

And you know lumber used for building, basically, permanently sequesters its carbon. And wood normally left to rot naturally, sequesters some of its carbon.

Comrade maggot- how many trees did you plant last week ?

ssure I can understand specific uses -but not as a nat gas replacement.
wood stoves are foul. they put particles into the air -they stink and make my throat raw

Wood smoke pollutants include fine particulates, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, dioxins, and furans. Breathing air containing wood smoke can cause a number of serious respiratory and cardiovascular health problems.
