They turned from being an organization that provided education on hunting and other shooting sports, to one that donates large amounts to politicians (even those who have no interest in the shooting sports) in order to get them to vote against sensible regulations regarding firearms. Even though two thirds of the American public supports more regulation, these bought-by-the-NRA hacks continue to refuse to entertain any new curbs. Are you okay with lobbyists buying your representatives? For example, how would you feel if PP came into a huge sum of money and started donating to your senators and reps to encourage them to loosen the laws governing abortion?

I don't know how you stand on the abortion issue, but here's a corollary. Planned Parenthood provides sexual education and counseling, birth control, diagnosis and treatment of sexually-transmitted diseases, cancer screening, education and medical assistance for sexual health for both men and women, and in a few centers they provide abortions. In other words, they are an advocacy group much like the NRA.... The only difference is the NRA does not actively shoot ppl; PP does provide abortions (3% of what they do). PP doesn't have a powerful lobby and doesn't buy elected officials; NRA does.

Technically, PP doesn't provide abortions. Depending on how you choose to refer to the term 'provide'. So it's a good analogy

Thanks. I could have also used labor unions. There is an ongoing screech from the Right about the heinous-ness (is that a word? Is now, lol) of labor unions donating to candidates in the hopes that they will support the unions, who in turn support the working people they represent. At least labor unions, though, don't promote products used in mass murders. Unlike the NRA.

Owl Woman, in her self righteous ignorance is part of the problem of untracted weapons, being in possession of at least 4 unregistered guns by her own reckoning.

This is where street guns come from, she doesn't have a clue about safe storage locks and is a perfect victim of a breakin.

What is "untracted"? You ASSume a lot. I believe that I've mentioned more than once that our guns reside in a 400-lb gun safe that is larger than I am. As for unregistered, where we lived till 2016 it was not required. See below.

Missouri does not:
* Require a background check prior to the transfer of a firearm between unlicensed parties;
*Prohibit the transfer or possession of assault weapons, 50 caliber rifles or large capacity ammunition magazines;
*Require firearms dealers to obtain a state license;
*Require gun owners to obtain a license, register their firearms, or report lost or stolen firearms;
*Limit the number of firearms that may be purchased at one time;
*Impose a waiting period on firearm purchases;
*Regulate unsafe handguns;
*Significantly regulate ammunition;
*Allow local governments to regulate firearms; or
*Give local law enforcement discretion to deny a concealed carry permit.

In 2015, Missouri had the 9th highest rate of gun deaths per capita among the states.

I'd have to disagree. Slavery and Jim crow alone was despicable enough to warrant the US a despicable totalitarian regime.

Just because they wrapped it up in a nice little bow, doesn't mean they weren't just as despicable as anyone else.

OMG a privately organized group who’s members desire 2nd amendment protections, use their organized dollars to fight anti 2nd amendment politicians, and legislation.

PP, not only lobbies in DC and around the country, but they suck off the taxpayer tit.

Want to have more what? Laws or guns? Sorry, Charlie, but you're wrong. Our weapons are 1) perfectly legal, and 2) kept secured.
