Dude... EVERY building borrows heavily from existing architectural forms.

There's no such thing as a 100% original building design.

use of a granite facade, and windowless facia.

In case you don't know it, granite is a common building material.

Would it be less "derivative" if they had used marble?

Limestone?

Sandstone?

Slate?

These are all common exterior building materials, too.

Monotonous in that it doesn't bring any unique or memorable design qualities. It looks like so much else.

So show us a bunch of pictures of buildings that look like it.

Because I Googled it and came up with nothing.

And honestly, the more I talk about and research it, the more I'm coming to realize that the building is in fact, very unique looking.

Obtuse in that it doesn't resemble what it purports to be. That makes it stand out in a bad way. That makes it obtuse.

Not sure you understand the meaning of obtuse any better than non-sequitur.


Obtuse is a word often used to describe trump and his MAGA supporters.

Trump's buildings are a combination of baroque and megalomaniacal. That is, they emphasize both the developer's (Trump) poor taste and inflated ego.

So you think poor taste is such a good thing it should be reflected in shitty architecture?

Odd the way you're pounding on Obama for what you claim is a poorly designed building, while boasting and bragging about how great trump's poorly designed buildings are.

Obama's building looks like he was going for something unique but ended up with something bland that sticks out like a sore thumb, a true eye sore on the landscape.

How can something be bland and at the same time, stick out like a sore thumb????

Bland means something does NOT stand out.

What's sticking out like a sore thumb here, is your desperation to throw shade on Obama for anything you can come up with.

Trump's stuff can be ignored as it blends meaninglessly into the landscape it's set in.

Trump's proposed library looks like it'd fit in some futuristic dystopian, cyberpunk movie rather than a library.

So, like I said before... flashy, tacky, gaudy, lacking substance or gravity.

Say what you will about The Obama Presidential Center, it has a sense of gravity.

A sense of seriousness befitting the man and the office he successfully held and watched over for eight years.
