Religion Is A Sickness

Hello Nordberg,

There is an element of torture in teaching kids about religion when they are too young to resist indoctrination. They are taught and terrified when they are small. The church and parents do it over and over. Almost all religions use the same technique, illustrating why people stay in the same religion, generation after generation.
If you believe your religion is correct, you should be able to convince your kids when they are older and can think of arguments. Perhaps saying nothing and letting them make their own decisions when they are adults would be the right thing to do.

i got whacked when i was to young to get punished.
Then it was loss of privledges -and I was raised strict Catholic

Im glad I was raised that way including the religion, it gave me a respect for faith,
even as I found my own way from there

I was slapped one time by my Babushka when I was about five, and that is literally the only time I remember an adult hitting me.

My parents took me to church service, but I was never indoctrinated, I was never told stories about burning in hell, I was never told stories of guilt and original sin. I suspect that kind of stuff is mostly the province of Protestant fundamentalists.

The religions I worry about are the rogue Mormons who force their daughters to marry their uncles. I think some extreme religious nuts are a danger, like the Duggar’s, but that’s just me.

What is the solution? A Democratic National Committee to decide which religions are allowed and which are not allowed? Enforced by prison of child-abusing religious parents and State parenting of the kids?

What about parents who live in a hippy commune with secular flowers, free love and drugs? Will the Democrats give that a thumbs up or thumbs down?

The fact remains we have laws on child abuse and religion isn't included per se. Why the uber-Left considers it abusive is as fucking nutty as the MAGA assholes and their beliefs.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

For Throwback Thursday:

Schools are really great behavioral modification centers.

The big difference was what the end result was in the two cases. In one case, there was responsible leadership with zero scandals for 8 years, and when it was concluded there was a peaceful transition of power to give the other side their chance.

The end result of the other, well, we all know what happened.

No, that's you trying to falsely frame a debate and use a pejorative much like Mao and Stalin.
It's my right to observe they are fuggin stupid and dangerous. Ask any devout turbo fundie what he
would do if the sky daddy told him to kill you. You won't like an honest answer. I am fortunately unfettered by
delusions and certainly not fealty to a delusion. I am guided by ethics, and ethics are based in reason.

You got a problem with that, Stalin?

Bullshit. If you said your neighbor was abusing their children yet you never called the police, I'd call you a fucking coward just like I called Stone a coward for claiming he supports "Stop the Steal" (after cheating on his wife) but hiding at home during Trump's riot rally.

Private businesses private rights.

Or at least that's what Leftists tell me when it comes to Google knocking Parler off the internet P, Twitter & Facebook censorship & Businesses discrimination against Trump supporters.

Yep. But that doesn't mean we can't hold them up for scorn and ridicule.

Eight year olds often get crushes on each other and on their teachers as well. It is an early indication that the child has the capacity to love and to bond. Anyone who sees that as immoral or evil needs to examine their own black heart.

Your argument style is defective. It's therefore my duty to round you up. :palm:

When you take a point, and extend it beyond its fair ambit, and then shove that strawman you created in someone's mouth just to be a worthless tit,
your are not debating anyone.

Isn't that what you've been advocating, comrade? :palm:

You're talking through your ass just like the MAGA nuts. You talk about abuse, but you're lying because you aren't doing anything about it.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

The point being the entire point of school is to socially indoctrinate kids into being good citizens and socially well-adjusted. I've yet to see anyone who has the perfect system for doing so.

As a juvenile, I lived in Washington DC and the Maryland suburbs. I credit the example my parents set for the fact I never had significant behavioral or disciplinary problems. I never saw my parents yell, fight, complain, they virtually never cursed or lacked self-discipline.

So what went wrong? ;)

Obviously in a nation of 328 MILLION citizens there will be 328 MILLION stories.

Hello Nordberg,

Totally agreed. It's legalized commonplace child torture. People are not born with anti-social ideas in their heads. Religion does that to them. Parents forcing the came thing on their kids that they got is like saying: "Well I had to put up with it as a kid so now I get to inflict it on YOU. Nyah!"

Totally disagreed with your blanket condemnation of religion and schools. That's as nutty as the Jewish Laser assholes. :)

hell is very much part of Catholicism - salvation thru Christ the other path.
Thing is though according to Christians you must have the faith in Jesus is the Way.

There was a guy on DCJ; called himself a "Nicene Buddhist" - i never could find that in Buddhism.
Then I figured out he had reconciled his Christianity beliefs, with the lifestyle of Buddhism
( 4 Nobel Truths/8 Fold Nobel path)

Thats where I've landed. I do not want to turn my back on Jesus teachings, and the faith he was the son of God
sent to redeem from sins. You must have that faith, it gets you thru tough times- like confronting death.
But for everyday life "faith hope and charity" sounds good , but is nebulous

That's where the 8 Fold Path kicks it.a practical guide to living a just and ethical life

Hello AProudLefty,

An 8-year-old student was kicked out of a Christian elementary school, after she told another female student she had a crush on her, the mother says.

The incident occurred last week, when Chloe Shelton, a second grader at Rejoice Christian School in Owasso, Oklahoma, told another female student she had a crush on her, mother Delanie Shelton told CNN.
Chloe was immediately removed from the playground and spent the next few hours in the principal's office, missing class time as a result, Shelton said.
"Before I was even called, the vice principal told Chloe that the Bible says that women can only have children with a man," Shelton told CNN. "(The vice principal) asked me how I feel about girls liking girls and I told her that I see no issue with it."

'Sexual immorality' is grounds for dismissal, handbook states
The school's handbook states that "any form of sexual immorality" goes against its beliefs, including "professing to be homosexual/bisexual."
Students who do not "conform to the standards and ideals of work and life" at the school forfeit the "privilege" of attendance, the handbook states.

A 8-year-old girl? My goodness. Where's the innocence?

The puses of religions are erupting everywhere, even at kindergarten schools. The stench is spreading and it ain't good.

Rejoice Christian School. :rofl2:

I don't think religion is a 'sickness,' but it certainly is a problem for humanity.

I can certainly understand why someone might call it a sickness. By definition, sickness is something which can lead to death.

Religion could very well lead to the death of humanity.

Here's how:

Religions tell followers to 'go forth and multiply.'

That is the problem.

We have done that, and now there are already too many humans on Earth. And still we multiply. Religions tell followers to keep doing it.

We are in the process of destroying our own habitat.

If we don't change our ways, humanity will surely destroy itself.

We will make our planet inhabitable.

And it remains quite unclear if we can figure out how to live in space or successfully find another planet to inhabit.

Religion is a pretty dangerous weapon to be aimed at unsuspecting innocent children.

Humans should be allowed to grow up first, before they have to decide if they want to become part of a religion.

how about you take your views and raise your kids the way you want to without being a judgemental prick
how other raise theirs?

Hello Dutch Uncle

You shouldn't have put that one out there. Today's conservative fears are tomorrow's liberal talking points.

Why do you think today's liberals keep talking about banning guns, religion and 36 oz soda pop?

Ridicule is fair. Advocating banning religion, claiming child abuse, pedophilia or any crimes is far Left rhetoric.

Try to ban it and let's see what happens.

Religions are in the process of over populating, and thus destroying, our habitat.

We need to limit childbirth to no more than 2 per couple.

Worldwide.
