SEOUL, South Korea — Kim Jong-un on Friday became the first North Korean leader to set foot in South Korean-controlled territory, starting a historic summit meeting with the South’s president that will test Mr. Kim’s willingness to bargain away his nuclear weapons.
The historic encounter at the Peace House, a conference building on the South Korean side of the border village of Panmunjom, could set the tone for an even more critical meeting planned between Mr. Kim and President Trump.
On Friday morning, Mr. Kim emerged from a North Korean administrative building inside Panmunjom, and walked toward the border line, where Mr. Moon was waiting. The two leaders smiled and shook hands across a concrete slab that marks the border bisecting Panmunjom.
Then, Mr. Kim stepped across the border.
After the two leaders posed for photos, they crossed briefly into the North’s territory at Mr. Kim’s suggestion, another highly symbolic moment. They then stepped backed into South Korean territory, holding hands, and walked down a red carpet to inspect a South Korean military honor guard and enter the Peace House.

but clearly the MAXIMUM PRESSURE CAMPAIGN brought kim un to the table .
Obama's "strategic patience" was a hands off approach.
Trump worked the UN and sanctions, and got China to get serious with their banking system etc.
I have serious doubts where this goes -but I'm hopeful for a verified process of denuke.

The un-TDS afflicted will see this as foreign policy victory that occurred under Trump’s leadership. It’s a fact, that Trump pushed for extreme sanctions, got them, and credibly threatened NK—and by extension, China.

FWIU, because food is so scarce there, out in the country, the people long ago took to eating grass and the bark off of tree trunks. If you look across the border from SK into NK, the tree line ends abruptly. They're mostly gone due to decades of having their bark stripped off, killing them.
Meanwhile, Kim travels around the country in vehicles with his own private toilet.

I wouldn't be shocked to learn that this whole playing nice thing by Kim is part of an elaborate plot to get Trump over in the region where they can launch a missile attack and kill him along with anyone else unfortunate enough to be there at the time. Or possibly shoot down AF1 as it's landing.
