Interesting exchange lol.
‘Why do we have to wear masks if we’ve been vaccinated?’ ‘Because the data suggests you need to keep wearing them’.
Notice that really doesn’t answer the question—and it’s a good question. Get vaccinated against Hep B, you’re done with Hep B. Nobody with a Polio vaccine worries about Polio etc. But these vaccines are different, apparently.
There’s actually an easy explanation and it seems rather obvious. Maybe it’s because mRNA vaccines aren’t really vaccines but preventative treatments. Treatments lessen the risk associated with an infection and that’s what the mRNA ‘vaccines’ seem best at.
These treatments are also specific for only the spike protein on the Covid virus so when a variant pops up with a ‘tweaked’ spike protein then the antibodies produced in response to mRNA treatments don’t ‘recognize’ the new viral antigen. So, the vaccinated have to go back to masking [however pointless, but that’s another debate].
As one of the hesitants I don’t find this to be very convincing. The data *and therefore the science* indicates I have over a 99% chance of surviving an encounter with the Bat Lady’s CCP bug. If/when my body does encounter it [assuming it hasn’t already] the antibodies produced in response are at least theoretically broader spectrum and so less likely to be ‘tricked’ by any evolutionary changes in specific spike proteins.
Now, back to my mopping.
