This isn’t helping to convince the hesitant

Interesting exchange lol.

‘Why do we have to wear masks if we’ve been vaccinated?’ ‘Because the data suggests you need to keep wearing them’.

Notice that really doesn’t answer the question—and it’s a good question. Get vaccinated against Hep B, you’re done with Hep B. Nobody with a Polio vaccine worries about Polio etc. But these vaccines are different, apparently.

There’s actually an easy explanation and it seems rather obvious. Maybe it’s because mRNA vaccines aren’t really vaccines but preventative treatments. Treatments lessen the risk associated with an infection and that’s what the mRNA ‘vaccines’ seem best at.

These treatments are also specific for only the spike protein on the Covid virus so when a variant pops up with a ‘tweaked’ spike protein then the antibodies produced in response to mRNA treatments don’t ‘recognize’ the new viral antigen. So, the vaccinated have to go back to masking [however pointless, but that’s another debate].

As one of the hesitants I don’t find this to be very convincing. The data *and therefore the science* indicates I have over a 99% chance of surviving an encounter with the Bat Lady’s CCP bug. If/when my body does encounter it [assuming it hasn’t already] the antibodies produced in response are at least theoretically broader spectrum and so less likely to be ‘tricked’ by any evolutionary changes in specific spike proteins.

Now, back to my mopping.

They are done with carrots and they never were much into convincing, only compliance.

Now it is time for the beatings.

How is it possible to still not understand the basics?

Vaccines don't = complete protection. People STILL get COVID. It helps w/ prevention, and it certainly helps alleviate the severity once you get it - but it doesn't prevent 100%.

One of these days, the OP will come around, and will be starting threads that encourage getting vaccinated & wearing a mask. Might take awhile, though.

The masks are not for themselves. Basic concept.

You know what, he's right, I was going to quarantine and mask up, but I think I'm going to find me a Trump gathering and bond with them. I like it.

The killing off of 600,000 Trumptopians would be good for America ... good for Planet Earth. I don't see the problem here. Am I missing something?

:tardthoughts:

I thought it evolved to ‘if/when you get it you won’t get as sick’. I seem to recall we started out at 90% prevention.

You mean they learned things as they went along?

Tell me, Darth. What's the point of a fence-straddling post like this? Are you DISCOURAGING vaccinations? Are you discouraging masks? Should people not do anything at all?

What's the grand plan here, science-man?

The masks are to prevent the virus from spreading to other people.

It's the same thing with the flu. Nothing new.

Can You Still Spread the Flu After Getting the Flu Vaccine?

Yes, you can.

Remember, even people who have been vaccinated can contract the flu virus and are at risk of spreading the flu if they are not practicing the 4 Principles of Hand Awareness!!

Flu vaccine is not a single solution to the flu, but simply one part of the true flu prevention strategy!

Remember, most of the respiratory infections are flu-like- RSV, adenovirus, rhinovirus, coxsackie virus, pertussis and many more that do NOT have a vaccine!

disagree. vaxxes arent treatments, they are a prophylactic

Yes the spike changes, but the antibodies seen to do a good job of blocking viral loading even in variants

according the the CDC ( the latest story) is mask are supposed to be worn to prevent transmission
FROM VAXXED PEOPLE..I kid you not.. that's not even "sciencey" it's just stoopid

If you are vaxxed - unless you are a very small minority that get "breathru" symptoms you are not spreading

The CDC is a laughing stock- i cant help but think they are politicized to look like Biden is "doing something"

the antibodies produced in response are at least theoretically broader spectrum and so less likely to be ‘tricked’ by any evolutionary changes in specific spike proteins.
good logic

I keep hearing this bullshit about breakthroughs mean the vaccine doesn't work. It's simple math. Let's say I'm playing darts, and I have a 5% chance of hitting the bullseye. First few darts that get tossed, I probably won't hit the target. But if I get to toss 40 or 50 darts I'll hit the damn thing eventually.

My 95% protection means I had a five percent chance that I could experience a breakthrough if I got exposed. In Florida, the darts are being tossed non-stop. More virus = more breakthroughs. This isn't fucking rocket science. It's middle school math. Why can't they perform the basic skills.
