This is historic

i believe it is tradition to bestow a cognomen on people who have subdued a foreign enemy of the empire. The proper name you are looking for is Donaldus Koreanus Trumpus.

I don't think so...but I doubt anyone will ever convince Trump lovers that he played a much lesser part than you guys think...and that the part he played may yet backfire on the world.

Don't get me wrong...Trump has mastery over some things. NO ONE IN THE HISTORY of the world has been able to soil people who march to his tune like he does. He is a world master at...

DKT, comrade.

This has not been a good day for The Resistance. First Koreans are praising Trump for his peace efforts on the Peninsula and then the House gives the thumbs down on Russian Collusion.

But it’s been a great day for Koreans and the US of A.

MAGA.

Koreans in the US don't believe it.

if SK and china are doing the bulk of the work, why did SK's foreign minister give credit to trump and not to themselves and china?
The same reason everyone does, to placate him, so he doesn’t do anything stupid. Trump can’t give details on anything he does other than the same old adjectives he uses about everything. The keep briefing short and simply because he is a, what was that word Tillerson used, oh, yeah, moron.

This is indeed historic and wonderful news. I wouldn't be so quick though to give Trump the credit.

Yeah, it was all Obama's doing....what leadership even when hes not in power....and his tax cut is working wonders for the economy too....what a guy....

(CNN) Leaders of the two Koreas have agreed to end the Korean War, 65 years after hostilities ceased, in a wide-ranging joint announcement struck Friday, that includes working towards the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his North Korean counterpart, Kim Jong Un, signed the "Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, Prosperity and Unification on the Korean Peninsula," at the demilitarized zone (DMZ) that has divided the two countries for more than six decades.

Following the signing ceremony, the two leaders clasped hands and hugged in a symbolic act of togetherness after a full day of meetings, including a 30-minute private conversation beamed live around world.

No matter what happens next, this is historic.

I keep looking for reasons to be skeptical about Kim’s intentions and I keep coming up empty. Yes, he’s always lied in the past, but he keeps taking NK in a direction it’s never gone before.

Politically, if Kim really does denuke and the Koreas become one country, Stormy, Mueller, Trump’s Twitter account...none of it will matter or prevent him from being the most successful foreign policy president since Reagan, at least.

And I don’t think Reagan could have pulled that off—not in his first term.

Say what? Ehhh just exactly what role has Trump played in this? LOL

Same with Reagan? Reagan played his part but he's grossly over rated on foreign policy. The architect of the fall of the Soviet Empire wasn't Reagan. It was Truman. So let's try not creating a new mythology like that which was created with Reagan, and I mean no disrespect Reagan, he did some very important work, but the credit rightly belongs to Truman as the architect of the fall of Soviet communism, not Reagan. That's a historical fact. So l know that Trump gets your panties wet but lets try to stay ground in a world based on fact and reality. LOL

Koreans in the US don't believe it.

I don't think most Americans buy it either.....North Korea is not to be trusted and I can't imagine them ever giving up one AK47 let alone their nuclear weapons...
It just ain't gonna happen imo....

trump deserves the nobel peace prize if this goes through. i mean obama got it for literally nothing.

All these doom and gloom liberals afraid of nuclear war, never realized the world didn't need another soyboy, it needed an alpha shitkicker to get stuff done. Pussies handwringing accomplishes nothing. Being tough does.
Agreed on Obama. He essentially won the Nobel Prize for not being George W. Bush....which come to think of it and given how god awful bad W was, isn't really a bad reason to have given anyone who succeeded him the Nobel Prize.

But let's get real. Just what exactly has Trump done here? I'm willing to give Trump credit where it's due and I have but let's not start some Reaganesque mythologies here. LOL

I don't know. Did he?

I mean I'll give Trump credit. If his extending his hand out to NK has resulted in this and this is for real and results in demilitarization of the two Koreas and denuclarization and a normilization of relations then this would be the most significant foreign affairs event since the Soviet Empire collapsed during the Bush I administration. (Something Reagan worshipers never seem to remember. lol).

President Donald Trump ratcheted up his administration's "maximum pressure campaign" this week by re-designating North Korea a state sponsor of terrorism and imposing new economic sanctions on four Chinese shipping companies and over a dozen North Korean entities and shipping vessels. The timing of the penalties is significant, falling on the heels of Trump's visit to Beijing and a high-level Chinese visit to Pyongyang.

The new sanctions, announced by the Treasury Department on Tuesday singled out entities that previously avoided
being targeted by the U.S., the shipping vessels and shipping companies that were able to transit goods to and from North Korea, providing a critical economic lifeline.

Three of the Chinese companies, the Treasury reported, exported approximately $650 million worth of goods to North Korea and imported more than $100 million worth of goods from North Korea during the first eight months of the year. The products included notebook computers as well as raw coal, iron, lead, zinc, and silver.

On Monday, President Donald Trump his decision to re-list North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism "a very critical step" in pursuit of a denuclearized Korean Peninsula. "This will be going on over the next two weeks. It will be the highest level of sanctions by the time it's finished over a two-week period," Trump said during a Monday cabinet meeting.

During his stop in Beijing earlier this month, Trump held extensive meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korea's strongest remaining trade and diplomatic partner. Trump and Xi maintained their friendly demeanor during public appearances, but according to reports, Trump was pressing Xi to take tougher measures toward North Korea behind closed doors, including fully suspending oil shipments.

Shortly after Trump's visit, China sent a special envoy to North Korea, Song Tao, the most senior Chinese official to visit Pyongyang in two years.

Maybe you can point out the mythology then lol.

Trump had nothing to do with the sanction regime put in place against Kim? Are you one of those who claim Trump is blowing smoke now, but six months ago you claimed he had us on the brink of nuclear war?

Truman huh ??? Thats even too ridiculous a claim to waste my time on arguing with you....might just as well give LBJ and Carter a little credit too....
Might just as well double down and give kudos to Obama for orchestrating the Korean issue...

Maybe I'll work on a way to give Clinton credit for ousting Saddam, after all he did insist there was WMD in Iraq when he left office....
The history according to Mott.. :wellplayed: ..go for it

Psst -- Obama hasn't been President for 15 months now.

BTW, Kim's nuclear facility wasn't collapsed under a mountain till last fall. Before that he was exchanging schoolyard threats with your Orange Moron. Funny how he quit as soon as that news leaked out.

No I was one who gave him credit for reaching out to NK. I’m not quite ready to nominate him for pope yet either. It’s nice he’s broken the ice and that the two nations are taking and that’s a good start and very commendable but before you have a Trumpgasm you might want to keep in mind that’s all that’s been accomplished.

Actually all the Presidents from Truman down did good work implementing and maintaining the Truman Doctrine.

Kim is a killer....

The last time the rightwing quickly leaped into action to prematurely heap praise on a President for their international stature and leadership was when Baghdad fell to U.S. forces in April 2003.

There was even talk of statues being erected to George Dumbya Bush!....as well as cackles of laughter that the Democrats were on the wrong side of history!

My advice....don't be so quick to leap to premature judgements about the alleged display of diplomatic dexterity by an obese Orange Pig.

Hello Darth,

I know we’re supposed to forget these things but some months ago the legacy media was up in arms over the prospect of Trump starting WWIII over NK.

Now the story has changed to Trump is blowing smoke and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Some will certainly refuse to give credit to Trump. He cannot be denied this one. He has certainly played a part in this. How big a part is still not clear, but he certainly deserves some cred for this.

Of course, leave it to Trump to spoil anything good he does. As tensions are so thankfully easing in Korea, we are on the verge of a very nasty war with Iran where all the tensions were settled and we had a deal. Don't underestimate Iran. That would not be a pushover like Iraq. If you can call what happened in Iraq a pushover. But the military/military part was over in relatively short order. Would Russia get involved in Iran to make it an impossible proxy?
