MANY people have gotten married who didn't "procreate." And that has never gotten protest from the same people who oppose gay marriage.
What does marriage have to do with equality and freedom? I'm amused by the farcical arguments that suggest that love cannot be expressed between gay couples without a government sanctioned piece of paper.
Whether or not they procreated is not the point. The fact that they can is all that is required.
It's not about opposing gay marriage, it is about not making a mockery of the purpose of marriage.

But the reality is, things change.
The word "subjective" accrues to modern English from ancient Latin. Literally translated "subjective" means "thrown under": the prefix sub- meaning under, and ject meaning to throw, as in an ejection seat.
Marriage may well have had different legal and social implications centuries ago.
But the socialists, the big government goons have sabotaged us. They've imposed upon us:
- Social Security
- employer based medical, dental, education, and perhaps other benefits
- etc.
And thus any S.O. not legally tied in law to the primary beneficiary is denied benefits as fundamental as visiting rights at hospital.
Just because these issues may not have been binding at the time of our nation's Founding is no reason to insist they do so, or not, now.

Once again your dishonesty is exposed. This is not about the ability to procreate or the fact that some get divorced, it is about the REALITY and historical fact the children need a father and a mother, preferably the actual parents of the child.

Plenty of heterosexuals get married who are unable to procreate for one reason or another. Would you restrict their marriages?
Can you be a strong conservative? People respond with can you be strongly religious. Religion should back gay marrige. They are simply living their lives as god made them. If you believe in god, you should not disparrage his creations. They are being what god created them as.
Conservatives should not care, but they do. They do because their political calculations say it is an advantage for them with their base. If it changes, they will suddenly find god and back gay marriage.

Your dishonesty knows few bounds. The historic purpose of marriage was to ensure a man and a woman would take their relationship serious and raise healthy happy children which benefits a civilized society.
