"Nearly half of Republicans think Trump should have authority to shutter media outlet

It must be difficult for you to keep up with reality when your head is consistently so far up your rectum.

Yes, the President is deeming the media (press) as the enemy of the people, when it is in fact the President who has become the enemy of the people.

Wrong again you ignorant fuck; the President is trying to help the American people and is a patriot. The dishonest media are trying to tear the nation apart with lies, distortions and moronically suggesting Trump is illegitimate.

But I digress; you're a low IQ moron on steroids who cannot possibly comprehend the obvious.

The Republican Party has evolved from merely being wrong about everything to now being a crime syndicate like the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS.

As for what Trump should or shouldn't have the authority to do, he shouldn't be allowed out in public without adult supervision.
Put him on a leash and let him have ten minutes of fresh air.

:lolup:Another moron eruption; same bullshit, different day. :rofl2:

Hello Stretch,

So, only the media has the right to free speech? Only THEY can shut down, ignore, rail against, opine, disrespect, remark, speak against, defame, ban, disagree with and define THEIR version of truth to the government of, by and for the American people?

Where did you get that from?

The OP certainly said no such thing.

Are you building a straw man?

You'd be angry too if the only reason to get up in the morning was to scour the internet searching for things to piss you off. Sad....

:lolup:Willful idiot doesn't know he is describing liberals and himself. :rofl2:

And is there anything more uncool than a conservative? Here a pickup line worth a try.

Yes, a whiny brain dead liberal partisan hack; like you. :rofl2:

"Hi I am Sam. I'm a conservative"

"Wow, that's hot, let's fuck." Bahahaha

I do wish you were clever and funny; but boorish, pathetic and dumb are the only adjectives that come to mind.

Obama constantly singled out Fox and Rush ... and tried to destroy them.

If, 8 years ago, the same poll asked, "Should President Obama have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior,” ... a 100% of Democrats would have said yes.

Don't doubt me.
:palm:

You are full of shit, Dog.

But we all knew that, right?

I see leftists on this site always calling for Fox News to be shut down. Same for Alex Jones. Just search under your buddy evince aka Deshtard. Leftists like you are the ones with speech codes.

I am personally struggling with the banning of Alex Jones from Twitter and Facebook. On one hand they are private companies and should be allowed to let anyone participate or not participate on their site. So being ideologically consistent I should not have a problem with it and if it were isolated, I wouldn't.

But.......

This is obviously a coordinated effort or "collusion" if you will. I am sure that this runs afoul of FTC laws. I also recognize that since November 9, 2016 we have entered into all out war with leftists who can't abide losing elections and will stop at nothing to implement their goals. It is no good being in a war when only one side is fighting it.

That is the biggest problem I have with JPP NeverTrumpers. They still don't realize that they are in a war. They think this is all some academic debating club.

I guess we will just have to see how this all plays out. Like all things the left does, I suspect this will come back to bite them in the ass in the end. Just like gerrymandering did. Just like the games they played with judicial nominations is.

Give the bullshit a break for a while, Don.

I have personally never seen anyone suggest that Alex Jones be banned from saying whatever he wants to say. If you have a couple of examples...put them forward rather than dodging the challenge.

And my guess is that even the ACLU would fight to protect his right to have his say.

Your assertion was a bunch of shit...you apparently pulled from your ass.

"Forty-three percent of Republicans think President Trump “should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior,” while only 36 percent disagreed with the statement, according to an Ipsos poll released Tuesday."

"A large number of Republicans polled also took issue with the media in general, with 48 percent agreeing that the news media is “the enemy of the American people.”

Appears nearly half the GOP has bought into Trump's shtick, even at the cost of the First Amendment, and I remember when conservatives told us they were all about the Constitution.

Amazing how in such a short period of time the GOP has totally forgotten what used to be their core principles, well, what they said were their core principle; character, fiscal conservatism, free trade, supporting allies, free markets, truth, and the rule of law. Now they've become rubber stamps to Trump's narcissism even when it attacks that which they said defined their political beliefs

One step closer to autocracy when others look to the leader of the nation to define what is truth

This is how fascism begins!
Get rid of free speech, then the masses will believe "The Big Lie"!

It was a response to the first sentence.
If the media can try to silence or misrepresent the people, why can't we the people (who are the government) try to shut THEM up?

You can, turn off the TV, choose your sources wisely, but legitimate reporting is a vital function to a free nation. Trump is wrong to make the accusations he does just because it is critical of him.

"Legitimate" being the operative word.

It's better for citizens to stick their heads in the sand and not know what they're saying and doing while Rome burns. Yeah, right.

The media is not trying to silence anybody.

And the mainstream media does not try to misrepresent people. They may try to spin stories one way or another, but they are not silencing anybody. That is not their job or function. And what the mainstream media does in reporting the news and in offering opinion is no justification for giving the President dictatorship power.

It is highly troubling that the right wishes for the President to have such absolute power.

Would the right have embraced this idea if Hillary had been elected?

Would they have gone along quietly if President Obama had tried to do this?

No, and no.

And that exposes how corrupted the right has become.

Trump watches Fox, one of the least legitimate sources of news. I bet, from reading your posts, you do as well.

In 2012, a Fairleigh Dickinson University survey reported that Fox News viewers were less informed about current events than people who didn’t follow the news at all. The survey had asked current events questions like “Which party has the most seats in the House of Representatives?” and also asked what source of news people followed. The Fox viewers’ current events scores were in the basement. This finding was immediately trumpeted by the liberal media—by Fox, not so much—and has since become known as the Fox News effect. It conjures the image of Fox News as a black hole that sucks facts out of viewers’ heads.
