Supermarkets Adjust Meat Sections as Coronavirus Cuts Supply

I'm waiting for Soylent Green. Should be awesome! Save the planet!

Beef heart I use to use to feed my tropical fish.

But it/internal organs can be an issue for ppl prone to gout, should your family have a proclivity...

Technically the heart is a striated muscle. If you have gout it's best to avoid liver, kidney and sweetbreads.

So low on ground sirloin and beef? ... how's the seafood looking there in the Fla. stores?

I've been trying to buy enough food to last 2 weeks (or even a month) at a time, so I don't check all the sections I normally do, each time I go.
all the supplies are low -especially frsh stuff

Calif & Fla are the breadbaskets.. We have plenty of fruit & veggies here.. Prices have gone up some, I guess all the folks out on the tundra are staying home, watching youtubes & learning to cook food that does not come in a box,,, :dunno:

None of the Millennials will get that one...:laugh:

Last month I was walking down the beer & soda aisle & saw these from the corner of my eye, no green though:laugh:

I thought~that looked like it said soylent, huh... Then I thought & then went back & WTF???? It did say soylent!!

What has the world come to?? (made in CHina from recycled criminals & political malcontents)??

Yikes!

Good to see you here! I worry about people when they’re gone.

I went to the store today. Lots of bare shelves, but mostly a reduction in selection, not item. I bought all the meat and dairy I wanted plus eggs. Cleaning items were greatly reduced too. No hydrogen peroxide in the pharmacy area, but still plenty of bottles of rubbing alcohol.

Alcohol is better on most surfaces anyway. Hydrogen peroxide can easily bleach or otherwise damage a surface.

The stores seem to be having the most difficulty keeping non perishables in stock. Strange.

I haven't had to shop for canned chili yet, but I usually get it at walmart. And I really don't want to go there.

One has to be pretty desperate to shop for canned chile in a store they don't want to go to! :D

The SOTC farmers are leaving in droves (if they can find someone to sell their land to!). The government there has not maintained the water supply systems, and they can't irrigate their land anymore.
Florida has it's oranges, lemons, and bananas, but they are nothing compared to the wheat, corn, rye, apples, apricots, cherries, spinach, and a myriad of crops grown all across this nation.

It was for my 80+ year old neighbor. I have no idea what she was going to use it for.

If you can't get alcohol, get Vodka. It's typically 40% alcohol. It should be effective and killing germs on surfaces. If she had other plans for the alcohol, at least you can drink it! :D

...which explains why my insides are so clean!

Yes it does. Below 70% is a waste of money.

Nope. The amount of water in alcohol doesn't affect it's ability to kill germs at all.
If you are using, for example, 20% alcohol, it is as effective as 1/5 of the 100% alcohol. Just use more of it.

Actually, just washing things down with water and a bit of soap is just as effective for practical cases. While it doesn't destroy the virus, it does remove it. Just put it the sewer. If the water is hot enough, it will destroy the virus, even without soap.

Another way to destroy the virus is to expose it to UV light, such as that contained in sunlight. UV-A is sufficient to destroy the virus. Sunlamps also work, but UV LED devices are generally not going to do much, due to their low power.
