No Peak Yet. Up To 3000 Deaths Per Day Coming; 200,000 New Cases Per Day...

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services set up a website for employers to report workers who refuse to come to work and emailed companies about it Friday. The department’s policy indicates if people refuse to go back to work and their jobs are available, they cannot qualify for unemployment benefits.

"The email, obtained by Cleveland.com, said, “Ohio law prohibits individuals from receiving unemployment benefits if they refuse to accept offers of suitable work, or quit work, without good cause.”
Sounds reasonable....doesn't it?
If they don't feel it's safe to return, for a good cause, they can make their case...

I am; I got out every damned day to get to work. Work among my co-workers. Walk the streets without a mask. I even had a staffer test positive who was sitting at my desk for more than ten minutes.

No one else got infected; nor did his wife and daughter.

The fear mongering among the left and the PHONY media is despicable.

Indeed.

Were I not retired, I would be out working too as I was “essential” to the FAA..

I once worked through a hurricane.

Be careful, TD.

My son just emailed me that a hailstorm hit last night in S.C. and hail the size of golf balls damaged his company truck and his wife’s car and probably his roof. Bad timing but it’s nearly always bad timing.

Sounds good to me...no slackers, Trumper.

If your job is available and you choose to not return, you are making the choice to lose your unemployment.

I was “essential” with the FAA and I had to work through a hurricane.

Even if it put your life and family's life at risk??????????????????

You Trumperoos point the finger at the left and call them tyrannical, and now you expect people to put their lives and their family's live in grave danger for the benefit of big corporations.

It is really about the election. Trump needs a better economy to win, so he will spend American lives to get it. Remember, everything is about November. Trump is, as usual , thinking of what benefits Trump. I cannot wait until this corrupt admin gets investigated.

This corrupt administration stinks to high heaven, and I sincerely hope that there is an investigation.

Hello Nordberg,

I know, right?

America needs closure.

Best case is HE goes to prison and court ordered to never tweet again.

Judy Woodruff: "We do have these apparently two new grim forecasts today. I want to ask about the CDC report yet. We haven't seen all the numbers. The White House is saying it's not their numbers, but they are talking about, by June 1, 3,000 deaths a day. They're talking about up to 200,000 new cases a day.

This is — this is the wrong direction."

Laurie Garrett:

"Absolutely, Judy. And it's a huge, explosive growth they're predicting.

And it's basically — if you look at the distribution that they are imagining, it's really the Prairie states, the sort of Mississippi Valley, and the Deep South states.

And it seems, I think — though we don't have access to the raw data that they are working with, but it does seem to coincide with these outbreaks that have been occurring inside of meatpacking plants, nursing homes, Veterans Administration hospitals, that have claimed large numbers of workers in those facilities, but haven't yet generalized into the larger community.

And I think they're projecting that there will be generalization, that a typical — an infected meatpacker, for example, might then infect their family members, some of those family members may infect local storekeepers, and so on.

So I think they're imagining a pretty explosive set of growths, all in fairly small remote areas, and, in many cases, rural counties."

Explosive forecasts

The president said on April 16th that the USA has 'passed the peak.'

BBC

The president was terribly wrong.

We have not passed the peak yet. It is getting worse. The worst is yet to come.

And now it is moving from the cities into rural areas, moving from Democratic strongholds into Republican ones.

How will that affect our politics?

Translation: The claim that by staying home we could beat this thing, was a lie and this narrative is a HOAX.

He's not going to get the economy he wants.

We can't have crowds until there is a vaccine.

No sports games, no concerts, no large events, no Disney, no cruises.

And who in their right mind would get on an airliner these days?

Any restaurants that are open are at 1/4 to 1/2 capacity. That means 1/2 to 3/4 of workers and servers will still be unemployed.

I do not see the economy 'bouncing right back.'

We're going down.

Hello Concart,

How would anybody know if they have been ordered not to report deaths?

I don't trust DeSantis, but I think there is more pressure now to accurately report. Is that the reason for the larger death toll? Not sure, but either way, Florida appears to be going UP not DOWN. The same appears to be true in other states as well.

How the Chinese Government Undermined the Chinese People’s Attempts to Prevent and Respond to COVID-19

"By silencing whistleblowers and sidelining charitable organizations, the Chinese government exacerbated the human toll of SARS, earthquakes—and now COVID-19. To aid the Chinese people and to mitigate the global impact of COVID-19 and any future infectious diseases, the U.S. government should press the Chinese government to respect freedom of speech, freedom of association, and freedom of religion so that citizens and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) can contribute their information, expertise, and resources. The U.S. is already the top single-country donor to China to counter the spread of COVID-19. As such, it should also press for better access for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, as well as international aid organizations, including faith-based NGOs.
Key Takeaways

To save face, Beijing silenced those making early warnings about COVID-19—and may have enabled the coronavirus to spread more quickly.

Recent history suggests Beijing will continue to punish whistle-blowers and sideline civil society organizations in favor of a heavy-handed government response.

The U.S. government should press Beijing to respect freedom of speech, association, and religion so citizens and NGOs can offer information, expertise and resources."
