Fully vaccinated Cruz attacked Big Birds vaccination because

If there were statistical information that showed that brushing your teeth could sometimes kill you and that tended to show that if you were young enough you had a better chance of that death than of clean teeth through brushing. Then you had one political party promoting teeth brushing with religious fever and the other saying, "Brush if you want, or not if you want" then yes, absolutely. A show telling folks that one side of the controversy was right and the other wrong would be political indoctrination. Pretending that because the indoctrination agrees with your side it isn't controversial or indoctrination is just pretense.

Your problem is that YOUR side politicized vaccination. You all thought you could just spread misinformation hither and yon with no push-back from medical experts, scientists, virologists and yes -- those of us who know that they are safe and effective. You want it to be political just like you claim the LW wants everything to be about race.

Ever heard of fluoride?

What a sad commentary this is then, that some people see getting vaccinated against harmful diseases as "political." You guys gonna cry about MMR, tetanus, polio, measles vaccines too? If Big Bird brushes his beak to teach oral hygiene, are you guys going to swoon over *that*?

A puppet showing a child that vaccines are good for us is not political, except in the diseased minds of the Cult of the Malignant Mango.

Already been answered.

Ever had the capacity to understand a hypothetical? The difference is in the political controversy, which is why I had to make up hypothetical data... Which side promotes not brushing their teeth? Brushing your teeth was not controversial because there is no political party that objects to teaching kids to brush.

(There is one family on wife swap that promoted using butter and clay instead of toothpaste, but not to ignore the practice whatsoever and they are certainly not among a major political party segment of our population).

Murphy's Laws of Combat Anything can get you killed, including doing nothing.

Do you really believe the top leaders of our nation, both public and private, would endanger themselves and their families with a lie about vaccines?

Is there any doubt Ted Cruz is fully vaccinated? Any other Republican Senator and their families?

One side promotes that it should not be suggested that kids be vaccinated, despite their own families being vaccinated. Do you see the cognitive dissonance?

Yes, I believe that some of the top leaders of this nation, if they believed it would give them more power (especially any unlimited emergency power that ignores constitutional restrictions), would most definitely lie about a vaccine.

Do I think they are at this time? No. Do I think we should be careful to make sure they don't? Yes.

Again, for the folks with memory holes like Biden... I believe in vaccines, I was part of the test groups and got mine long ago before it was a political tool and I recommend folks get a vaccination themselves. I do not, however, believe that we should force folks to get a vaccine. Whether it be for flu or for this disease, folks need to make their own healthcare choices.

Rubbish, one side suggests that we should not mandate it and that we should never try to use government paid for propaganda to try to promote one specific side of a politically controversial subject. If we let the people in majority power make these decisions to indoctrinate children on their political agenda imagine what Big Bird might teach your kids once Biden is gone.

Ted Cruz has found the real vaccine enemy: Big Bird!!!!!!!!

It's hard to imagine how we all missed it.

After all, an 8-foot, 2-inch yellow bird is sort of hard to miss.
But, lucky for all of us, Ted Cruz is on the case!

See, Big Bird is part of a conspiracy to get your 5- to 11-year-olds vaccinated against Covid-19! That damn yellow bird wants your kids to get a vaccine that will not only protect them from a virus that has killed more than 750,000 Americans but also keep them from unintentionally spreading it to parents and grandparents who may well be more susceptible to more serious infections even if they are vaccinated.

How would it even work on kids? It's ultimately parents' decision, is it not? Remember Ted said they're five year old kids?

And do you have proof that the government paid for it?

BTW, this is not about the mandates.

Lemme see. First it was Dr. Seuss, then Mr. PotatoHead, then red meat, then the caravan, then the vaccine.

So now it's Big Bird?

The RepubliQans have lost their fucking minds. I don't know if I can ever vote Republican again with all the fucking RepubliQan morons in Congress.

Agreed. The GOP died in 2016 and there were very few Republicans left after 2018.

After 38 years of voting Republican, I started voting for Libertarian Presidents in 2016 and 2020. I expect to do the same in 2024.

I am old enough to remember when the polio vaccine came out and public announcement spots on T.V. and radio urging parents to get us kids vaccinated

Hmm. Is Sesame Street no longer a PBS production? It's been a long time since I have seen it. If it isn't, then all this is useless nonsense. AT&T (they own HBO) can project whatever political view they want. It would still be propaganda, just not a government propaganda anymore.

Why the Republicans' newest fight with Big Bird matters
A quarter of a century after Newt Gingrich went after funds for public broadcasting, some Republicans are apparently ready for Round Two against Big Bird.

Shortly after Republicans made dramatic gains in the 1994 midterm elections, then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich was eager to get to work on his plans to balance the budget. High on the Republican's list was eliminating federal funds for public broadcasting.

The move was not well received. In fact, it led to headlines such as, "Are Newt and His Cronies Afraid of Big Bird?" When the Clinton White House prevailed in budget talks, and support for public broadcasting survived, there were related headlines such as, "Big Bird Taken Off Death Row."

In other words, Republicans picked a fight with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting — and Big Bird won.

A quarter of a century later, it appears the GOP is taking aim at the 8-foot, 2-inch Muppet again. NBC News reported yesterday:

Big Bird's seemingly innocuous — and obviously fictional — announcement Saturday that he has been vaccinated against Covid-19 caused a stir online, as Republicans like Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas accused the yellow anthropomorphic bird of tweeting "government propaganda."

You're correct. It moved to HBO.

it has aired on the US's national public television provider PBS since its debut, with its first run moving to premium channel HBO on January 16, 2016, then its sister streaming service HBO Max in 2020.

Some? Sure. Assholes exist. All? If so, then we are truly, royally fucked.

The fact remains all the world leaders are doing their best to protect their interests in the face of a global pandemic. We, the People have so successfully politicized our own epidemic that about an extra 150K Americans are dead because of it. The spike last August was purely politically driven by you-know-who...and not the fucking Democrats.

There was no need for all those who died to have died because of a lie.

Agreed on forcing vaccination. Businesses have a right and a responsibility to keep their places free of disease. Workers have a right to work in a disease-free environment. I have no problem with State and Federal government helping both of them. Preferably at the lowest level possible.

Our government leaders knew the seriousness of COVID in December 2019. Without all the fucking lies, we should be over this by now.

Yes, mandates should be a last resort. Now, almost two years later, they're using the last resort.
