David knew that the Messiah would come through his line. The Jews knew it.


Joseph was descended from the line of David (tribe of Judah).
Mary was descended from the line of David (tribe of Judah).

When Joseph, who was descended from David, married Mary, this constituted his legal adoption of the son she would bear. The language of Matthew’s genealogy reflects this legal understanding: "Joseph, the husband of Mary . . . the mother of Jesus."

So Jesus was the son of Joseph in the full legal sense, because he was adopted when Joseph married Mary, and thus Jesus is also considered to be a legal descendant of David. When Mary married Joseph her household became part of the House of David.

The Jews kept fastidious genealogical records and they were a matter of public record. Remember that Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem to be taxed because that was the city of David.

The grandfathers are easy. There are 2 genealogies, one maternal, one paternal. Hence, Heli (ELI) from Mary and Jacob from Joseph.

Jesus had the right to the throne by way of the father (Joseph), even by adoption.
Jesus had the blood of David in his veins because of His mother (Mary).
So either way, He is a descendant of David.
He is King legally through Joseph. He is King naturally through Mary. The credentials are clear, they are detailed and they are irrefutable.

There are no more prerequisites needed for the Rapture to occur. After that of course there are many events which will transpire prior to Christ's 2nd coming.

There is one main event that must happen prior to the 2nd coming of Christ at the end of the 7yr Tribulation...the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem. More precisely the 3rd Temple.
For those who think Christ's 2nd coming and end times have already occurred simply because the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD, they are incorrect. Architectural plans for the third Temple exist most notably in chapters 40-47 of the Book of Ezekiel (Ezekiel's vision pre-dates the Second Temple)

The thing here is that first the Antichrist must arrive on the scene. He will be the one "authorizing" and getting the 3rd Temple reconstruction going. He will be deceiving the world making them think he is on the side of Israel and wants the Temple built for them. Naturally this won't be readily apparent until half way through the 7yr Tribulation. But, he's often identified as the political leader of a trans-national alliance similar to the European Union or the United Nations and will secure a peace treaty between the modern nation of Israel and its neighbors following a global war. The Antichrist later uses the Temple as a venue for proclaiming himself as God and the long-awaited Messiah, demanding worship from humanity.

So, all of this would be occurring after the Rapture during the 7 years of the Great Tribulation.

You don't understand God’s grace. Ruth had forsaken her people and her gods and had unconditionally clung to the Lord and His people (Ruth 2:16,17). Once Ruth turned to the Lord, He graciously received her, forgave her past and removed the curse that had hung over her. Not only did the Lord accept her, but He included her and used her as though she had always been an Israelite. It was as though her past and ancestry did not exist.

Here's kind of a brief timeline:
Naomi fled from the famine in Judah to live in Moab with her husband and two sons. Her two sons eventually married Moabite wives including Ruth. Naomi’s husband and sons eventually died and she decided to return to her homeland.

Ruth clung onto her with a pledge that 'your people will be my people and your God will be my God.' (Ruth 1:16).
Though she was a Moabite, Ruth was acquired/purchased by Boaz, the guardian/kinsman redeemer of Naomi’s family (Ruth 4:9-10). Scripture says, "the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son" Obed, who was David’s grandfather.

In a short genealogy of David (Ruth 4:21-22), Boaz is listed as the father of Obed, the father of Jesse, the father of David. This was in line with Jewish culture where children are the offspring of their fathers and not their mother. Throughout history, Jewish men married or produced children from captive or slave non-Jewish women and the offspring became Jewish because of their fathers. So technically, Obed, the grandfather of David, was the son of Boaz and not Ruth.

Incorrect.

In the 3rd Temple will be the abomination of desolation; antichrist will stand in the Temple. Revelation and other Scripture refer to it also as the Holy Place (where sacrifices were made). The place where the antichrist should be, if you prefer.

They already tried to build a third temple but it was felled by fire and earthquake.

Incidentally, this genealogy goes through a line (Jehoiakim) that is disqualified for kingship. Some Christian commentators have claimed that Luke gives Mary’s genealogy. Accordingly, it is proposed that Heli is the father-in-law of Joseph, that is, Heli is the name of Mary’s father. There is no genealogical record, in either the Jewish Bible or the New Testament, which refers to a man as the son of his father-in-law. There is no verse in the New Testament that says Mary is the daughter of Heli.

To presume that Mary was of Davidic descent presents the problem that Mary could not pass on what she did not possess: (1) Maternal connection does not enter into consideration for succession to the throne of David which is passed on only through a continuous male line: “There shall not be cut off from David a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel” (Jeremiah 33:17); (2) Biblically, the right of lineal privilege, that is, kingship and priesthood, are exclusively passed on through the male line. The incident regarding the inheritance of the daughters of Zelophehad (Numbers, chapters 27 and 36) does not apply here since it concerns the transference of physical property and not privileges of lineage.

Considering Luke’s genealogical list, neither Joseph nor Mary could claim an inheritance to the throne of David through Heli. Heli and his progeny would be disqualified in regard to the Davidic kingship if he were a descendant of Nathan. Of all the son’s of David, God chose Solomon to sit on the throne of Israel (1 Chronicles 29:1, 1 Kings 2:24).

Whether through Joseph or Mary, Jesus is disqualified from the messianic office.
